Common practice which is why they make you sign a doc. I would agree a 3 day flip would raise some eyebrows but if you wait a few weeks its business as usual.

The dealer is often counting on you bringing it back for that reason. They can charge market after the initial sale.

They are certainly not. If its early they’d like a shot but they seldom want to risk capital towards them. They fully know people will sell the car away from them.

So why do they have you sign a doc stating they get FRoR? If you don't follow through you are done with that dealer.

They will low ball or take it on consignment. There isn't a big market for a TDF right now, it will likely sit a while.

I have and many others I know have. Common practice. In fact this was a factor in addition the Lusso for me to get a Pista allocation.

Good for you though, perhaps your situation with your dealer is different from others.

FRoR is usually for the first 6 months or 1 year for new in demand cars.

Basically some want to be in line for the next best thing but not necessarily enjoy it. Kind of weak.

why would being in the front of the line and not enjoying it be equated?

many folks have posted extensively about ownership history and priority status. Search FChat for those key words....I have learned a ton from reading those posts.

I am not sure how you can enjoy it if you don't keep it. If you keep it for some length of time and use it absolutely. There are many who just flip out but have the status. I have a friend who does this, he gets every car, keeps them for maybe a month or less then out. In his defense he has a bunch of cars.

who said I was selling...who said I don't keep cars?
I have cars that I have owned for ages.

Some cars stay some go. My decision to keep isn't primarily based on market value.

I had a boatload of Porsches. Rare Porsches. Became bored with Porsche, Porsches were sold. NEXT!

Many here seem to think its just about the profit potential, It is not. It's about the experience. I assure you that when you speak to folks
who are owning these special cars RARELY to they talk about what they paid vs what it is worth.

If a car is special, one keeps it. What I consider to be special is different from you.

I have cars that I rarely use, but I adore. Stupid cars that no one understands why I own them. I don't care.
Others that I use all the time that are just...cars.

Life is too short to have such rigid rules for what is, in essence, a hobby. Usually a huge waste of money... :)

At the end of the day, cars are fungible.

Special cars for me have been motivators. I know this is a common theme among car guys.

I appreciate that some car guys want to get one car and make that their thing for decades. I know car people who ONLY want a specific type of a specific model of car. All others are total crap. They know everything about that very specific type of car.
I truly respect that. For me, that is boring.

Enzo was right. The best one is the next one.

Special Cars are keepers. Very VERY few cars are truly special (to me) when you cut through the hype most cars are the same. Most cars that we are sold to believe to be special are not. They are just marketing hype.

A truly special car doesn't have to be stupid money. For example, have you ever driven a 14/15 Camaro Z28? $45k. Ever drive an Ariel Atom 3s? How about a MK1 Miata....

It is not about money/ profit/ value...that is where many seem to get stuck. You seem to think people spending (stupid) money on cars are somehow not car guys. You are wrong. They are just car guys who have been at it longer than you or are more driven than you.

I don't really care if I lose money on cars. It is a minor consideration when I buy. If depreciation were ruling my decisions I would drive myself insane worrying about value. Depreciation is part of the deal when you buy like taxes.
Heck, we have a Port coming next month, need I say more!

Over thinking, over analyzing depreciation etc really is the anti-Viagra to the car passion.

Being jealous of who has what has the same effect.

Ferrari is an irrational passion. Period. Love, in general, is irrational. Can't be explained, can't be understood if an explanation is attempted. (I have tried)

We are all car guys or we wouldn't waste time on this site. So many here seem to have agendas that have nothing to do with our shared passion and hobby. It's really kinda sad.

I also wonder the same thing. Take LaF for example, if I could "lose" all that money upfront to get to a LaF, I very likely would not sell for money because essentially the amount of money should not matter much at all, unless I find the car is boring and not worth it. But again, most of us buy the ferrari without even having test driven or seen it in person, as it's not even available yet.

I am confused... Must be the mystique of the name "Ferrari"

I agree with 99.99% with you as I share the same perspectives about toys and life in general. (Plus your mentioning of the miata. I told my wife I will get the next rotary engine from Mazda and I don't care how much engine oils it burns)

But I can't help but noticing that you kept mentioning people have sour grapes and have different agendas, particularly about the pista. I honestly don't have that sense at all. (Personally I hated how the juvenile YouTuber got the pista because it bothers those who have financial investment in Ferrari on its public image) Otherwise, super happy about the Ferrari loyal car owners who get it, even if it requires the purchase of other cars. Waiting to see a pozzi blu pista.

Just don't want you to be so jaded. That's all.

it wasn't that long ago that cars weren't hyped in the same way as being special, it's only since people started seeing them as investments/bragging rights for instagram etc that values balooned

I'm currently looking into getting an EB110 and it pains me so much that I didn't buy one when I first took an interest in purchasing one, they've shot up in value since!

Nothing was directed towards you - we don't know each other and I wouldn't make such an assertion. I never got the impression you would flip out, you seem more like an enthusiast and someone who would enjoy the heck out of it.

My post had nothing to do with you and was not directed at you at all. I agree with your post above.

I was referring to the individual who bought a pista and sold it immediately. What’s the point of that cause it certainly isn’t about making a few measly buck. I don’t know why you think I was talking to you cause as far as I know you aren’t selling your car. My post had nothing to do with you..
