RMSotheby's said full results would be posted by Dec 10. Sorry, I didn't take notes on site.

For what its worth, they also had this 1961 400 Superamerica on display from the "private sale" side. Not part of the auction.

When I saw the Davies' 290MM at Tim Stanford's shop years ago, I was amazed at the distributor placement (4 of them) at the rear of the block! How in the heck could a mechanic "set the points" with the distributors recessed into the firewall? Were the engines tuned on test stands before installing them in the chassis before races?

The F40 sold for 1.36m eur and the 360 GT at 295k incl premiums. You can download the app ‘hammerprice’, they collect all results with stats. Very nice and free app.

    Ciao

I was there, the auction seemed pretty much preordained. No suspense. They got to the 20 million number and then quickly shut it down.

sperry: Do you happen to remember what the Dino hammered at? I was "watching" the live stream, and was not really paying much attention, but did not think it went as high as the $239k the would be needed to get to the listed $263k (assuming a 10% buyer's premium)....

    Interesting. I was remembering $230k, but $235k would line-up with a 12% buyer's premium. Funny that the 290MM looks like a 10% premium...

The premium's vary depending upon the hammer price.

They changed it last year: 12% on first $250k, then 10% on balance. Ferrari sale was 15% up to €500k, then 12%.
