Sadly, that is why I only take my car out and park where I can keep it in view. Stopped taking it out for evening events years ago. People resent material evidence of others being "better off", and there are enough of them out there who will happily vandalise to prove their point. Sad, but unfortunately not much you can do about it. It's worse in some places than others, and certainly the UK has a problem with this (as a former UK resident....). Hope your car is back in tip top shape and enjoy driving it. Eventually "everything turns to rust and dust"....

Absolutely agree... Ferrari and Lamborghini, and the other more obvious super cars tend to be targeted in the UK when parked in some pretty innocuous places. I used to find the Aston Martins tended to be much more welcome places (being British) but the rest, beware. Those that claim otherwise know deep down that they won’t leave their car for more than a few moments in the majority of places in the UK, it’s just not worth the risk.

I’ve even been told by little morons that they will be back to trash the car while I’ve been stood by it (didn’t end well for him though, when I answered ‘go on then, do it now toughguy’ and marched up to his face ready to destroy him in front of his girlfriend, he started crying!).

Too much jealousy. These scum don’t realise it would be just as easy to ask us how we did it, and simply emulate the hard work and dedication that we all have to put in (unless you have family money of course, then you are a bastard!). :)

You still haven't said if there was any actual damage done. If there wasn't any damage, there isn't anything the police can do.

You know, maybe you could offer to take the kid for a ride or something. Take him for ice cream. Turn this into a learning moment.

I'm not sure there is a learning moment in this kids future other than repeated incarceration. He is in the foster care system for a reason so it defies logic he came from a "good family". Bad genes...bad early life...learned to disrespect what others have....all add up to another soul lost to the cesspool of life.

Sure maybe a few of these kids can be "saved". But to what end? Forcing a kid to adopt values that they don't believe just creates smarter criminals. Maybe one or two might make it to a better life.

I doubt seriously the kid would appreciate anything other than perpetuating his bad boy image. Imagine how much his street cred went up with his peeps when the police give him a strong talking to..... The next time he does it ....he will be wearing cleats and not be seen by a video camera.

I'm certainly not excusing his behavior, but I doubt that those circumstances alone make someone beyond redemption. I just thought maybe meeting the person whose car he damaged might flip the script. Probably not, but you never know. I've always been amazed by my Ferrari's ability to put a smile on a kid's face, especially when it is something that they can take part in.

Nothing wrong with trying but don't confuse reality and learning. Reality is how this kid lives every day. At the end of the day.....you drop the punk off after giving him a ride to buy ice cream and what did he learn? Street punks don't see compassion or enlightened thinking. What they see is a rich guy who gave the poor kid a ride in his car and bought him some ice cream. After 30 minutes....the rich guy drives away and the punk goes back to being a punk. If your lucky....he doesn't call the cops and say you molested him. Your word against his.......that is a teachable moment.

It's not the craziest idea. Maybe the kid just needs a bit of direction and hope. You never know how things turn out.
