This is going to be fun. I predict a lot of high scoring games. 20th WS appearance for the Dodgers. Number 11 today while being in LA. Pretty amazing. LA residents may be blah say about a lot of things but not about the Dodgers followed by the Lakers.
If Boston doesn't win, I'll be surprised. Did you see the Rockets/Lakers last night? I think they have a new rivalry forming lol!
So, my two least-favorite teams make it to the series. I guess I have to root for the Dodgers as the lesser of two evils. Besides, they deserve a title after nearly 30 years without one.
Oh, Being a Yankee DieHard, I HATE this World Series. It is 50/50 for me. Do I lean toward Redux cause they are AL? They did beat the Yanks, so they are worthy? or Do I root for the Dodgers , they are not a threat, it's been 30 years? Either way, I DON'T CARE! Boston is TOO good this year.
I get very tired at the continued success in this century of the Red Sox and Patriots. I wish the pertinent people would retire so that everyone else had a decent chance. (But I have a soft spot for the Celtics since my dad was a distant relative of Red Auerbach!)
The Red Sox have had significant turnover...GM, coach, players, not sure many or any people other than the owner was involved in their mid-00's success.
There is something to be said about the "rich get richer" in major league sports. The Dodgers lost their great shortstop and went out and bought Manny Machado in a flash. Without Machado they would not be where they are now. If you look at the richest market teams, they usually do the best. I think the Dodgers have the most expensive payroll in baseball. Money isn't everything but it sure helps keep you up within shouting distance every year.
that's kind of my point...Jim said "why can't pertinent people on the Sox and Pats retire"...it's not that simple. great teams that spend on personnel and have great cultures will succeed.
On the other hand the Dodgers, the Yankees, and the Red Sox and maybe the Cubs have the best attendance and viewership.
Cubs are behind the Cardinals in NL (probably due entirely to stadium size) surprised to see the Blue Jays do so well. https://www.baseballpilgrimages.com/attendance/major-league-2017.html
my point was Wrigley is smaller than Busch, therefore fewer seats to sell. Did some calculatin', Cardinals sell ~90% of their potentially available seats. Cubs sell 96%
I'm not thinking clearly about what the hell I'm reading nor what I'm trying to say, so just ignore me lol!
Yes but I wonder about the TV audience. I think the Cubs are bigger but no where near NY or LA or Boston The Dodgers draw over 3 Million each year even if they finish in 5th place. Fans are very loyal. It's not the same with the Angels. They draw well when they do well. Dodger stadium is the 3rd oldest stadium on Baseball and it still packs them in.
That's kinda where I think my head was going. Looking back I should basically consider myself as a Cubs fan when I was a kid. I watched loads of Cubs games because of WGN. Ryne Sanberg and Mark Grace to name a couple of reasons. Good times!
