So, let's hope the pictures load!! From the last years of production, of the 124 Spider. I have this blue one, that needed a Guibo joint and a fuel pump to run. So those are installed and I drove it from Houston out to Tomball, the radiator has some leaks.. Runs fine, shifts fine....80,000 miles on the odometer But it's a fun car, I got a sense of what it would be, upon sorting.... The spares? A second car! ..and a new convertible top (black) that came with this one. The second car is a 1982, red...basically the same, but the body is not as good. Rust has taken it's toll...still it's complete. So a "2 for 1 deal" here......the rent has run up on storage, and the project isn't going to finish with my management. Hoping calling the second car "parts" fits the site criteria here for ads. I have mislaid that title, so taking a part may be easier than a duplicate Title from out of state. I bought it from a Fchatter, so "possible". So, Bill of Sale offered here... Thanks for looking, storage unit is ready to move them, for $1600 in fees. So both cars, sprung to freedom for that amount. Alan 832 801-0670 Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
..not sure if I have a old photo of the red 1982.... Same wheels. Low miles on rebuilt engine. Gas tank has rusted, so that would be Step 1, on it's journey. I laughed because Step 1 of the fuel pump installation was: "1.) Replace the gas tank, it's the real problem." LOL! Good info also about checking relays and control fuses. There are four relays total, in this car! Save them from my Sawzall!! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks guys.....painted and shiny, they would be cheap fun at the beach. My original plan. As you see the chrome/glass is all there, and actually quite good.
Thanks! I think I have answered all the PMs and phone calls. Thanks for looking. I had about $4K into the pair of them, but need to redirect my focus right now. I did look and the availability of steel repair panels for the floor, doors or fenders are actually quite good! Due to the high demand....LOL!
Someone digging into the VINs has clarified the RED one is the 1983, leaving the nicer blue on as the 1982.
I had 2 of these: a 78 1800 carb and a 83 FI car These are a lot of fun and really pretty. Easy to work on also.
I have always wanted one. Back when they were new when I was a kid, I couldn't understand why anyone would pick one of them over an Alfa Spider. Now every time I see one I want one - to park next to my Alfa Spider.
Did I mention I have a new uninstalled top, ready to go?? I guess these two may be headed to salvage, if no takers....not much recent interest. Thanks for looking!
If only it wouldn't cost twice as much as the asking price to get them to shipped. I have some space and some skills. Might be a fun project.
Thanks Reaper I sure appreciate it! For beach use they really just need new carpet and a radiator repair (the blue one)... I hate to send them to salvage they are so CUTE!!!
Yes it was the lack of space that bit me. Stored them to keep them safe and them time flew by! Just as they say....
I love that Black and Tan. That was my very first car back in the late 1980s. But with a luggage rack on the trunk. If I didn’t have too many cars... Matt
It's actually a boring deep Navy Blue...it was destined to be Toyota Truck blue sparkle metallic, and the other one was going to be Mazda Fire Red metallic, paints are so much nicer these days!! With big longboards sticking out, was even going to throw the tops away, (well, remove them cheaper than repair) like Coburn's California! LOL! The trunk space is actually generous in both, even with battery mounted there!
Would probably standardize on door mounted Vitalonis. Those on red car drilled thru the vent windows are TOO weird!! They are even cable controlled from inside the car. Crazy Shheeeit! I think they would have resembled Baby SWB Californias, with the brighter paints. EDIT: I should say "the Cost of Freedom" is the sell price, as the longer this add runs, the more it will take! They are locked inside, because he is wise!!
Yes, I have been under the dash and there are FOUR cube relays, and maybe 8 to 12 fuses!! Even with the early Injection Control module. (1)
PMs responded to. I did have one 'New Thought' today, as the coffee kicked in! If someone wants to buy these "today" and stop the meter running on the storage, let's do that. My brother's ranch is not far and we can relocate them there, protected from elements and critters, for pick up/transport when you are able. That would freeze at least one of the dynamics, in play here. Thanks everyone for looking. It's kind of tough to let go of dreams......but I woke up. The Ducati (also here in Ads) is below $3K now, buy that too!
Alan, I have an 82 Fiat Spider that needs new wheels, the same that are on your red car. Any chance you would sell them to me?
Saw this on my way to finish a job the other day. Been a while since I had seen one. Looks like I may have to find one now that I'm seeing the positive info from everyone. Image Unavailable, Please Login Sent from my SM-G930V using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Both these have the same wheels.... The $1800 here will get you 8 of them! That's actually the reason I purchased the blue car. Google the place in Forth Worth TX, there's actually two vendors there, that can get you taken care of, for one wheel.
Nice, the black vs. tan tops, I am told tan is the rarer, but more common to later cars. The replacement top in this deal is black. I once pulled in to an emergency repair in to middle of Nowhere, Louisiana, off the High Road (I12) The guy put a new water pump on my Toyota, and I had my racing kart in the back of the truck. As I looked out his back door, there blocked up tall enough to clear the weeds, were TWO 124 Spiders. I then shared photos of my 308GTBs. He charged me $20 labor to put the new pump on, (on a hot engine!) and I was on my way back to Texas. That's an '82, from the Pininfarina Crest badge, the red '83 has the later "bar" logo that matches the one on my '77 308GTB. It's people like that, that make these cars fun.
