Hey Bryan, It was great seeing you, your Mom and Dad and especially the little Blue car at Nationals! Please pass on to your Dad, my congratulations on the Coppa Bella Machina, Best Scagletti, Phil Hill Best and Enzo trophy's. You and your family have definitely earned all of them for all the love, sweat and hard work you've put into that car!! Here are some of my photos from Saturday 10/2/10. Enjoy, Bill P. some video from FCA National 2010 at NJMP. I will have in-car vid soon. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QF7OOfSexFU[/ame]
What a GREAT sound from a 4-cylinder car!! Thanks Bryan! Bill P. P.S. Bryan's dad, Admiral Phillips was the guest speaker at this year's FCA-MAR Enzo Birthday Party. He talked about racing in the 50's & 60's and his "little blue" car. It was a great time for all!!
Love the downshift/blip around 1:40, car sounds sweeeetttt!! Thanks for sharing, this story never gets old!
I don't think these are in here, a few of my favorites. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Well thank you, it's quite an honor. I almost didn't get it, I had to literally run out of the tent and snap them very quickly before the car was loaded on the truck.
The in-car video should be incredible. I took this picture of the camera mounted on the 500 Mondial at NJMP. . Image Unavailable, Please Login
Good evening, You can see in this link a 16 mm color movie of the 1955 GP in Venezuela uploaded to You Tube, it was made by the late General Solis Martinez, who gave me a copy in DVD: http://www.youtube.com/user/MrCaribe1970?feature=mhee In one of the frames you can see your dads Ferrari Mondial (look for the blue car !) There is another movie of another race in the same circuit, earlier in 1955, with several Mercedes 300Sl, Triumphs TR2, etc. Regards, Eduardo Muñoz
Wow! What great footage. Thanks for posting. Unfortunately there's no sound. It was great to see Juan Manuel Fangio. I saw (2) little blue cars. I'm assuming the Admiral's car was the first one since I believe Harry Schell and Eugenio Castellotti won 1st in their class at that race. Bill P.
This car has nothing to do with this thread: Ferrari 860 Monza #0602M Midwest 500 Elkhart Lake 8 September 1957 Phil Hill practice car, Luigi Chinetti in front.
thanks, Boudewijn. For anyone heading to Monterey next year (2015), we have been invited to show the Mondial at the Quail Motorsports Gathering followed by some track time at the FCA National at Laguna Seca. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Sad to see the car go up for auction next month. I love that you and your dad shared it here before it became the big deal car that it is today. We knew it when it was still a project in the garage. S
Yep. Passing it on in a week or so. https://www.goodingco.com/vehicle/1955-ferrari-500-mondial-series-ii/
That's fantastic, I saw the Petrolicious piece a few years ago but hadn't seen the Jay Leno piece. Very glad I was able to see the car all those years ago. Good luck at auction Admiral!
Dear Chris, Thanks for the wishes. There is another video out there with some driving which you might like: Best regards, Robert
