Given the rise on interest for Japanese cars such as Datsuns, Toyotas, Mazdas, etc., isn't it time to start a section for these gems? comments?

My largest speeding ticket ever was 105 mph in a 280zx in 88. I was just getting on the freeway where the speed limit was 55. That became a fun night.......Anyway I have a love for Japanese cars.

Well, how can we make this happen?
Whom, within FChat is responsible for adding a new Section under "Other Cars"....called...Japanese Cars?

It's been discussed quite a bit in the past. As owner of multiple 240Z / 280Z cars, I had a vested interest in seeing that section added, but it was determined that the General section is the appropriate place for discussion around Japanese cars.

Me too! Without the rock solid reliability of this truck, I would still be driving a Ford Escort GT! There are a couple of folks around here that drive older Z's that I see from time to time when I am out in the Cali or the Porsche. Very cool cars. I even like the more modern 350 and 370 generation Z's.

This was a few days ago @ the end of a 3K mile road trip. It always throws a CEL every time we go out west (high altitude, lower octane gas?!?), which eventually clears itself. Can you imagine a Ferrari doing that? ;)

Great idea, if there are enough people on here that will actually contribute and frequent the the threads.

I am confident there will be lots of traffic on this new section....many fans of older Datsuns (like me), not to mention the FJ 40 and 60 aficionados everywhere.

If you look around, there are already several NSX threads and an LFA thread.

I think they would be ahead of the curve if they started a Japanese section now.

    You’re right.

I love Japanese cars. But this thread is averaging only one post a day in support of a new section. That’s really slow traffic.

Come on Matt...you cant say that. the support is there. The Title "Japanese Cars" will bring readers. This is just a thread...cant judge support based on this alone.

I believe the interest is there, with some posted pictures of classic Japanese cars (Pre: 1980) combined with later examples I think you would attract viewers. The Japanese "classic" cars, in unmolested condition, are gaining in marketability both in private sales and auction sites.

Seems like the manual transmission dilemma to me. Automaker decides to offer a manual in one of its models, but on the base trim only, and with no options. Buyers forgo the manual because they can't get anything nice with it. Automaker then removes the availability of a manual because "no one buys manuals." Well no s**t! When you don't make something readily available, not many people are going to bother with it.

My point is that if you add a Japanese Cars subforum, people will post in it. From a casual observer's point of view, it doesn't seem like it would be terribly difficult to add a subforum and appoint a moderator who has an interest in the subject matter, although maybe I'm mistaken?

I like the idea. I had several
Z cars back in the day and I’d read and post frequently.

Agree. There are already a bunch of NSX and LFA threads on here. Also, lot of S2000 and Z-cars owners here, too. Existing threads could be consolidated into a Japanese Cars sub forum to establish a base. It would be a lot easier to add to an existing thread than having to wade thru the General Automotive forum.
