Anyone have any thoughts on this car? Over 79k before they changed out the speedo. The original engine was pulled for a 330 GTC. Currently with a Chevy V8. Repainted in resale red. Original gauges included.

If I was interested in a 330 GT, I wouldn't hesitate to consider this car. My only concern would be the driving difference between a V8 and V12, I'm guessing not much. Then again, I'm a driver, not a collector.

I like the car and it would make an awesome daily driver. The issue I have is the paint is bad, transmission needs a rebuild, driveshaft is noisy, etc. To get the car in shape you'd have to drop around $30-40k and at the current bid I don't know if that makes any sense. It's also interesting to see what changes the car has gone through and what prices it has/hasn't sold for as of late. LINK

I would guess a 550 engine would actually be much easier than a 599 engine.

It's at 70k now and it has days to go. I already think that's out of range considering what it would take to sort it out.

    I agree.

The reason why so many 2+2 cars have been rebodied as sports/racing cars is that all the wonderfulness is in the engine.

To each their own but I don't see the point of a Ferrari without a Ferrari engine. Putting a thoroughbred Lamborghini 4 litre 4 Cam V12 in it might make it interesting.

Yeah I think a lambo engine would be as or more offensive than a Chevy V8. Someone should buy it and if they can't get a period and model appropriate engine in it then put a 550 engine in the thing. Someone finance me doing this please.

A guy in our FCA chapter has a 330 2+2 that looks almost exactly like that, but it is all original. Even has the tool kit.

I'm really impressed with the lengths they went to to make the LS1 look appropriate, even with dual oil filters (surprised the didn't do better on the radiator since that seems easy). It seems there was an effort to make it sound appropriate -- yes, it does sounds like a V8 instead of a 12, but there is a bit of European note to the exhaust. The retention of the original transmission is also an important part of the driving equation (no replacement would feel anything like the original). Even when they replaced the gauges to work with the LS1, the new gauges look fairly appropriate (save for LCD screen :().

It's too bad there wasn't as much attention paid to the rest of the car.

At $145k this car didn't make the reserve! That's fairly unrealistic in my view.

$145k is bonkers money for something that lacks the key reason to own one namely the v12 engine
