Looks like a pristine street driven new Ferrari in that picture!
Can't say for sure but very likely yes at his house. Beside the white Buick Skylark the tail lights on the white Buick Riviera are the one year only 1965 version which dates the picture as being from around 1965 as well...

There is what appears to be a second Ferrari; a silver blue 330GT in the back corner to the right of the 1964 250GTO beside the garage.

Bonus points: identify the year and model of the Buick hubcaps on the trailer.

Hard to tell from the angle of the shot, but I think either 1955/6 Century or possibly 1962 Invicta.

Never sniffed glue, but there could be brain damage from other substances. :)

I'm serious, though. I think the 456M is the best ever front V12 Ferrari. I freaked out when it came out (The pre-M), and went to Dallas to see the first one on a showroom floor. This goes back to my love of the Daytona and 365 GTC/4 2+2. It's an improvement on both of those my lightyears to me. I thought the 550 was "meh" in comparison.

Someone "liked" some of my posts here, so I thought I'd resurrect the thread. And why not, since I started it (and, just as when I started it, I am dealing with a tension headache).

For the 1953 model year, Raymond Loewy designed a stunningly modern 2-door coupe for Studebaker. The thing really is amazing. Look at the way the front bumper is a part of the front fascia, and not some sort of add-on. Very clean lines, no ornamentation for the sake of ornamentation... if there is anything that detracts from the overall car it is the windshield. It's too flat. Studebaker tried to make it look more modern by having the vent windows wrap around into the windshield, but it doesn't quite work (at least to me).

Awesome design. Ahead of its time.

My next post is about that.

By the end of the 50s, Studebaker was bleeding cash something fierce (the truth is, they never really made money after WWII). Studebaker hired Brooks Stevens to refresh the old Commander/Hawk into something more modern. What Stevens pulled off is nothing short of amazing. He cleaned up the sides, added a roof made to resemble that of the Ford Thunderbird, and plopped a Mercedes Benz inspired grill (Studebaker was the official importer of Mercedes).

    The Studebaker Gran Turismo

Another good looking car Studebaker managed to cobble together was the compact Lark. Gene Hardig hacked up an old 1953 Champion 4-door (removing some two feet of sheetmetal) to show could could be done. From there, Duncan McRae, Bill Bonner, and Bob Doehler worked on making a salable car, with Virgil Exner Jr making the last pre-production refinements.

But here's where I think Studebaker got wonky. Both the Gran Turismo and the Lark sat on what were essentially 1940 Studebaker frames. The front suspension still had kingpins, and the frame itself took up a lot of interior room (by not being perimeter). But instead of trying to advance their technology, Studebaker spent a bout load of cash on a new performance car, the Avanti.

Styled by a team led by Raymond Loewy, the Avanti sat on a Lark frame, and thus was, again, 1940's technology. The body was built of fiberglass, which gave Studebaker no end of trouble as they had no experience working with the stuff. And while many laud the Avanti as a beautiful automobile, from many angles I think its truncated development schedule is blatantly obvious. To me, something about the thing just screams, "not quite done!"

Amongst my peer group, the Avanti is well liked and revered for its design. It’s never been one of my personal favorites, but I’m reminded that in the context of its time frame it was pretty ‘far out’. Just not for me.

What's odd is, I love the design, I just don't think it was quite finished. In my opinion (for what it's worth):

-The windshield is way to flat and narrow (I think it's from the Hawk, actually)

    -The wheel wells don't work

-The front "nose" panel should have more of a slope to it

-The roof should gently slope toward the back

Another week or so in clay, and I think it would have been an amazing automobile.

I disagree with all your points... I may not count. No headache, either. :)
    Still love the car.

My best friend's father had a Supercharged Golden Hawk... impressive, but handled horribly.

BTW, I just watched an Aussie detective TV series... "Jack Irish" (Guy Pearce). The star drives a RHD Studebaker Golden Hawk... fender vents open.

I think I posted this earlier, but since we are in the midst of a 1930s art deco posting wave, here is the original "Batmobile"- the 1930 Mercedes "Count Trossi."
