The 458 and the 488/Pista are all derivative of the 308. The balance between the major proportions is very similar to the 308.
Well.... Actually.... The 308 is a derivative of the 206 Dino Gt which is a derivative of the 365 P Berlinetta Speciales That doesn't make it "retro" any more than the 308 or 360 modena was "retro" of the Dino. This isn't a throwback to the 1960's. Its a contemporary design.

I had exactly this rim in my hand today in Geneva and I have reasonable doubts that this rim is realy a CF rim .... So: what is a CF rim ? Semantics ? To me it looks like aan aluminium rim with CF cover. Rim is also to heavy to be a full CF rim imo. A CF rim at Koenigsegg is a real full CF rim, shows no aluminium anywhere and weighs 6.5 kilos in all. Who can tell more about these so called CF rims ? Are there any experts on CF wheels ?

ppg70, can't thank you enough of taking so many pictures and posting them, nearly as good as being in Geneva! You are da man. Love your shots with different alcantara colors. Small request: any way you can post a higher resolution picture of the option list? I know the site scales down pictures, have had better luck with saving pictures as pdf Thank you!
Not familiar with Koenigseg wheels, how did they handle the heat shield issue? Ferrari CF wheels (as per ppg70 awesome pictures) are made by Carbon Revolution in Oz. They seem to be the leading company worldwide and make all the main OEM CF wheels.
The 308 is the obvious inspiration for the scoop, yet in this drawing, they allude to the Dino and P-car as inspiration. The 488 front fender does have more of a Dino curvature to the front fender though, less like the wedge shape of the 308. Image Unavailable, Please Login
By "glasses", do you mean windows? Also, great get on the preliminary options list, although to me it was illegible.
I have a question about the CF wheels So, the idea is to reduce unsprung weight so the wheel will rebound faster from less mass when it hits a bump. Does Ferrari alter the software of the shock suspension system to account for this? Or does it self measure the rebound of the wheels as it runs. To me it should understand the unsprung weight and then calibrate accordingly the magnetic shocks
Interesting Melvok, I have the same thoughts and questions. I see two challenges which must master such a rim: the heat development of the disc brakes and the enormous forces (braking and acceleration, lateral forces). For comparison the CF rim from the Senna, another design principle, hub and spoke in aluminium, only rim band in CF. I trust a little more in such a construction. However, I would not buy such a rim either. I can not imagine that this material can manage the heat properly, certainly not in the long term. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes sorry for my poor english....I mean windows kit in Lexan I tried to post a better resolution of option list
I think the Lexan parts are the engine cover (for sure) and maybe the glass between cockpit and engine compartment.
in italian this option is “KIT VETRI ABITACOLO IN LEXAN”.....so it seems is not including the engine cover but just the windows glasses abitacolo=cockpit.....but let’s seen soon since is still TBD and honestly nobody informed me in these two days about this option!! p.s. for now I can’t load a better resolution of option list, sorry bur a loading errors occurs
