A 355 Challenge car has been listed in Bring a Trailer. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1996-ferrari-f355-challenge/?utm_source=dailymail&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=2018-02-27 Perhaps the knowledge from this group can help delineate the truth from the fallacy that may be propagated in BaT.
This is a 1995 converted (non-factory) challenge car that successful campaigned in four full seasons. ‘96, ‘97 driven by Benny Caiola and in 98, and ‘99 driven by Alfred Caiola all under Wide World Cars as # 75 Car was always Rosso Corsa and was the team mate to Tom Papadopoulos with the same livery in red rather than Tom’s white car. Car is currently a bit non-OEM to how it raced - missing some correct parts and some more heavy duty changes to the console and dash. But let there be no mistake that this car has very good history. Result will be a desaster, I am sure. Why? Totaly wrong auction, condition of the car, to many wrong parts etc.,... This is NOT the market.
Wrong advertised year. No title. Work/parts needed to bring back to period correctness. Good for seller to hang on.
Jesus christ, did you see the receipts from that racecar shop in california? The prices they charge are nothing but short of being hilarious! 3000usd for a decal job? Browse their invoices just for fun and forget to breathe....
Seller (not the owner) posting here as a thank you to the FerrariChat members (Robb in particular) who helped dig up info on the car. That was greatly appreciated! Re the prices, yep, welcome to Silicon Valley, where you'll pay 4x too much and they spend 2 hours in traffic trying to get there. An 800 square foot home just sold for two million dollars in Sunnyvale. Crazy!
