I went to look at a FF in Texas this weekend and ended up falling in love with the 458. What a hoot to drive.I have had many high-end cars including a F12 but this may be the most fun I have had driving a vehicle. Can anyone tell me if there were any changes from 2012 to 2015 in the vehicle? The car they had was a 2012 tow-toned silverstone and argento top with 6000 miles, had LED steering wheel and a lift system. I am also interested in a 2013 argento colored one with 1300 miles and but no LED steering wheel or lift system. Is the lift system needed on the vehicles? I had one on my FF and never used it. Any advice on shopping for a used one would be much appreciated. Thank you.

I’ve owned all the 458 varieties now and the spider is the best.
Led and carbon seats and forged wheels.

But also drive the spider on a bumpy road and compare to coupe...this could be a deal breaker for some.

I use my lift a lot, but a lot of other people don't need it. I try to avoid steep approaches and bumpy roads, but you can't always get what you want........

    Spider vs. Italia?

I've driven the Spider and own the Italia.

I congratulate you on choosing the 458, one of the greatest Ferraris of all time. Whatever variant you choose, make sure it fits the bill: your taste, your personal preference, your local roads and weather, and if the car is well maintained, with decent options, history and the spec you want.

Fact of the matter is you can't go wrong with any 458 and you'll fall in love head over feet with it. I own the Italia and love ALL 458s, regardless of version. I still stop whatever I'm doing whenever I see a 458 go by, as if it was the first time, as if I didn't own one. It never gets old.

My only doubt with a 458 is if today I'll sit for hours looking at it, or if I choose not to fall in love with its looks and take it for a spin. If I drive it, I can't look at it. If I look at it, I can't drive it. Life isn't fair. Other than that, owning a Spider or the Italia, you'll be fine.

    Kind regards,

    Nuno.

Displaying the red intake cover of a 360 / 430 / 458 / 488 without opening the rear hatch is part of the Ferrari manifesto.

Spider or coupe? Well I had a 2008 F430 coupe and went to a 458 spider. Although I am in Michigan (not the best roads by far), I have not had an issue with cowl shake. Regardless, I like the ability to have the top up and roll down the rear window. The reason I went to the Spider is because the car had everything I wanted and it had a retractable hard top. If the 458 had a canvas top, I would not have bought a spider.

Regardless, you need to drive both. And when you do, you'll buy a Spider.......;)

Simple solution: buy another one! :)

George, I agree with the others about the spider v coupe decision. Great advice above and you should try both. I am sensitive to the shake in the spider so I went with the coupe. Its just a fantastic car (either way)!

As to model years, my rule of thumb is to get the latest model year as possible this way any improvements are included, but this comes after making sure its the right spec.
