It wasnt a great 917 vs a lovely McLaren, if it was a Gulf or Martini team car expect closer to $20 - 25 million which is where Canepa price them at. As for the McLaren, various agents were claiming them as $20 million so its interesting to note a great example is $16 million. $13.2 million is a lot for the 275GTB/C

I wonder what are the chances that Montana would issue a plate for it. I would definitely use a 917 to go get milk on a sunday morning. My wife would have to wait a few hours for my return though.

917-024 was the car at Gooding and owned by Jo Siffert from new new until 1978. Was one of two that featured in McQueens Le Mans movie BUT only featured in still shots, the actual car shown driving was another, 917-022. #022 was later raced and owned by both Richard Attwood and Brian Redman, two of the contemporary greats and sold by RM Monterey in '99 for around the million US mark to Bruce Gallogly/ Gunnar Racing. As for the other 917s in the movie they were rebodied Lola's (much cheaper to buy and wreck in '70).

Pretty confident that is market. Too many no sales at higher rates tell me their is a disjoint between what vendors and buyers think they are worth
