More mediocrity. But that's Indy Car !

  3. C'mon-n-n T.
It's everywhere, not just IndyCar. The billboard parade rumbles on in all forms of the "sport" (Ha! Sport? Just different advertising agencies).
Many dislike my repetitious statement (not so...yet...on this site) that at least a bunch of us caught the real thing and know the difference at least. ;)
'T'is a shame for those that don't understand because they didn't catch it. :(
And for those that were around and prefer this manufactured "close competition" (pfffttt} crap....oh well.

    IndyCar is not Formula 1.

    So what?

  5. Huh?
What's that got to do with the thread? :(

IndyCar has had more entertaining on-track action than F1 this season for me. The Indy500 and Texas Motor Speedway races were crazy. F1 has more off-track action, but that's because there are too many drama queens there.

I hope IndyCar succeeds with the new car...it certainly looks better than this year's Dallara. Heck it looks better than the current F1 cars and any of the F1 cars from 2009 and on.

The next generation Indy Cars definitely look like a step in the right direction.

These insipid "aero kits" that have added all the wings, winglets, tabs, boxes, etc. make
the cars look like a sixth grader's version of a racing car.

They may be fast and effective if recent record laps have shown but atheistically, they're
just so obtuse looking that they're boring to watch. As pointed out, while the cars aren't
exactly things of beauty, the racing is good and entertaining.

Hopefully, the next version addresses the obtuse factor and then Indy Car starts getting
more chassis and engine manufacturers involved. Hope so anyway, would hate to see
American open wheeled racing fall into the hands of NASCAR as our sports car racing
    has.

  8. A) I believe in God, but they're still ugly. :p
    B) Racing? What racing? They're just a bunch of billboards on parade. 'Gotta equalize that exposure for sponsors. :(
    C) Who needs more chassis builders and engines for B)? :D

I dunno..IMSA seems to be on an absolute roll with getting new teams and manufacturers involved lately.

  10. It "fell" years ago when TG fu....errr....screwed it up. ;)

  12. If these "first photos" are of what will be running, why are they being tested? Wouldn't the testing have been done before finalizing. We shall see, shan't we.... ;)

I could see Indycar as a good alternative to F1 for chassis builders.

They mostly have been decimated by the proliferation of one-make series.

I get your point and yes....we shall see.

    agreed

  16. Why would Indycar change the one make series? They don't want competition...they want a parade and "fantastic" (albeit manufactured by the one make...)"show" to draw sponsors.

  17. And what? Become a spec series? Wha's the mattuh wit' you people...?

edit: No, I really didn't take ya's literally...(I hope that's not what you meant, anyway...) :)

Cannot speak for William but I believe we are talking from the aesthetics of the car....

  19. I'm well aware of this, thank you. william was suggesting that F1 go spec by dictating bodies, like Indycar, to which I responded.

HMmm Lets see. F1 VS Indy. Indy: better looking cars, better sounding cars, closer racing, higher speeds on ovals, cheaper to fix and run,Not as agile. Spec racing yes but at least all the cars have a chance to run up front. And for the most part they all finish the race without crapping out on the track. GTS Bruce
