Would love to go there. Was just 20 miles away 2 years ago on a Porsche tour. The Porsche guys would hear nothing of it. PHILISTINES!!!!!
Changed my iPhone "wallpaper" today. Carmel-by-the-Sea with my wife. Fond memories. Image Unavailable, Please Login
My wife is not very fond of my Ferraris: "Too loud! Too bumpy! Too low to the ground!" But she has promised me she will come for a drive to the coast this weekend. I was thinking either Carmel or Half Moon Bay. Maybe I'll post some pics.
To my surprise, my wife actually suggested we take the Ferrari. It was the first time she had done that. Photo was taken the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. We drove down with top on and windows up. Parked on Scenic Rd. Top came off after our walk along Carmel beach. Cruised the 17 Mile Drive clockwise having entered at the Carmel gate. Walked the waterside trail at Spanish Bay resort then met friends for drinks at Pebble Beach Lodge. On the latter, driving a Ferrari catalyzed special treatment. If you go, enter at "The Lodge (Guests Only)" entrance. I asked the gatekeeper where to park, she looked at the car and replied "anywhere." I missed my chance, but stop at the main entrance at The Lodge and ask the valets if they are going to leave the car in the small parking circle 10 steps from the entrance. If not, exit through the electric gates and park in the regular tourist lots. It was not like car week where you blend into the crowd unless you are driving a zebra stripe Enzo shooting 12 foot flames out the exhaust.
No disrespect to anyone but I have learned with an epic car like a Ferrari or a vintage Porsche you basically tell the guys (young and wet behind the ears) where you want to park after slipping them a $20...... It has worked for me every time.
And I got a parking ticket...wondering where I "won't" be eating again... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Agreed, I would never eat at a restaurant that issued parking tickets to their customers. That's crazy.
Wonderful shot, Brian. It seems to be a popular place for 3x8s in the Bay area. My 308 came from there & when I got it last year, there was a Grateful Dead CD still loaded in the player and a bag from "Concepts - Carmel" in the side pocket. Looks like a jewellery store bag (it was empty ).
