he was talking once from a gear ring ( crown ) to change with other ratio. only this can not be changed and the ratio he gave now ( 3.45 ) is the all over all ratio ( so from crankshaft to diff-outlet ) in what gear? or only the ratio from the CP ? so 20 teeth the pinion and 69 teeth the crown? the original pinion has 14 teeth, the crown 45, so we have a ratio from 14/45 or 3.21
but the ratio 3.45 means that the minimum teeth at the crown should be 69 teeth with 20 teeth at the pinion. all other will never get this ratio

    you may count by yourself

when you keep the pinion with 14 teeth then the crown must have 48.3 teeth what is not possible

I think he picked up a 3.45 set from a 512 he told me. But I may misunderstand his explanation.

I'm not entirely sure of myself, but I bought a ring and pinion from a 512 and the final drive ratio on a 512 is 3.45:1. I am not simply changing the ring gear, but both the ring and pinion, of course. Romano, you say that the ring and pinion would be 69/20, which may well be the case, and I will actually count the teeth on the pinion and ring when I get it. but then you say this is never from a 512. I know that the 512 has a 3.45:1 final drive, so I don't understand your comment.

Given my lack of familiarity with modifying these, despite having owned a 512 previously, there may be something inherently different due to the engine/transmission/differential setup that I am missing or not understanding? I will check with the guy who has been doing the work on my car and see what he says.

I also have a 512 BB but never counted the teeth at the C or P
but 20 teeth on the pinion is very much that I can not believe, not so much space inside

final drive: may be you mean the ratio in 5th gear? so only in the gearbox? but never the CP ! ! !

when will you get those parts? would be great if you could post some photos then :)

I feel like a kid just before Christmas. Only a very, very old kid. The car is together and has been tuned for all the basic things, like idle, tip-in, etc and goes on the dyno tomorrow for power. It sounds great, but I'll have to keep the exhaust valves closed or my neighbors will protest like anarchists at a conservative's talk at Berkley. I will post videos of the dyno runs and also a brief in-car video tomorrow evening.

Here's the original and then the revised interiors. I'm providing links, because -- for whatever reason -- it comes out upside down when I use the attachments function.

I'll get them straightened out. I think the Maserati sign is in front of the BMW. I naturally planned to have each car in front of the correct sign, but... I planned a lot of things and not all my plans have worked out. :)

I'm afraid I am a master of understatement in this regard. ;)

Thanks, Tim. I built this about 30 years ago and have sort of outgrown it. It only has 5 car bays. I am building a smaller building for my motorcycles, which take up a little more than 1 car bay, and that will free up the 5th bay. The 6th bay is just for my toy trains, model cars, library and seating.

I'll take some pictures tonight. Also, I did a drone video of the car today and will edit it tonight and post tomorrow.
