I'd agree what we know http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/145292638-post15426.html & http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/145293297-post15436.html & http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/145295167-post15455.html is not irrefutable proof, but its pretty persuasive, and unless I see something that contradicts what we know, I'd say 3372 was Rod Stewart's first Miura.

I have also been told privately by the UK concessionaire @ 30 years ago that Rod's first Miura was a white RHD P400.

According to the man who serviced the car here in the USA, it was in the 80s.

I'd be guessing if I tried to narrow the timeframe down.

Didn't he tell Stephen his first Miura was a LHD P400 and that 4818 was his third Miura? We know for certain that he owned Miura S 4863 and SV 4818, so if 4818 was his third and the first a LHD P400, he didn't own RHD 3372. That he was pictured with 3372 doesn't prove it was his. Like I said, it could well have been his, but the log book info is significant too, that it was his manager's and it may have been that it was on loan to Rod from him.

I read in this thread he sold 4818 in the 80s too. 1985 IIRC.

    All true.

As regards him saying his first Miura was a LHD, perhaps there was a Miura before 3372? So many Miuras to remember, I doubt his memory on these things was that precise, I recall speaking personally to Walter Wolf and he was vague on what he owned many years ago, so there is always a chance memories fade - I'd much rather go with with images, and in conjunction with the log-book, they make a good case. Not irrefutable, but good.

    Yes that's what I have.

I do think 4866 was the last Miura he acquired though, after he moved to the USA.

Think I my have got this wrong, it was a long time ago, I think the first car he drove was lent to him by Lamborghini [white LHD P400] and following that he owned three Miura RHD in the UK,information from another site suggests that he was friendly with a man called Roger Phillips who owned Lamborghini imports for the UK at the time, they knew each other as they were both brought up in Highgate London, he would I presume have sorted things car wise at the time

181/3372 RHD OVM8H bianco/pelle nera was consigned 28/05/68 and kept on dealer plates by Brian Classics for two years until FIRST registered 28/05/70. The name of the first owner does not appear on the registration document but the SECOND registration was to Adrian Millar, Rod Stewat's manager, on 26/07/72. The Getty images of Rod with OVM8H are dated 12/09/71, ie during Rod's period of ownership.

That makes sense, that would have been this car http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/145294243-post15441.html which was lent to a number of celebrities at the time, and featured in Sandie Shaw's Route 66 video.

A great interview with Giancarlo Barbieri. I just love these interviews with the people who where actually there working on these cars. Wonder what really happened to the Jota chassis and engine ?

Who were these celebrities the car was lent to? I think there is a big difference between lending a car short term for a photo shoot and a long term loan which is implied here.

I know Rod became a Super Star shortly after this period but I just find it hard to believe that Roger Phillips would have lent a very young Rod a Miura for a length of time.

There is footage of Rod at his house with the LHD Miura. It was shown on a Parkinson??? interview around 2001.

It could have been loaned to him but too many assumptions being made at the moment. Just my opinion.

Perhaps we should contact Rod Stewart and jog his memory in the hopes of something more definitive.

I believe that same white LHD Miura P400 was lent to Sandie Shaw and Rod Stewart, but let's not assume it was for a long term loan, because that is not being implied here.

I have tracked down and spoken to several prominent Lamborghini owners, Walter Wolf and Patrick Mimran amongst them, I always enjoy that process, so it would be my pleasure.

Very true. Perhaps Adrian Millar bought 3372 off Rod when his SV 4818 was delivered? He couldn't have had Miura S 4863 JLL 831K for long before the SV arrived either. Seems he may have had 2 Miuras at any one time back then, perhaps even 3? :)

Good point. 701/4818 was consigned 31/05/72 and the registration of 181/3372 to Adrian Millar was on 26/07/72 so this sounds highly plausible...after all who really needs three Miuras?

None of us are quite sure about 4863 there are no pictures of Rod with the car, only the one outside the house, but another member of this forum has been in touch with ex model Jilly Johnson and she can remember picking up a White Miura from the factory, the car that is very well documented is the SV 4818 it has a really nice continuous history from day one, I met the owner on Saturday for the first time and he told me he also owns the ex Eric Clapton Ferrari 275 GTB which has documented proof it was Eric's. Lots of Miura and other exotic cars were owned by well known personalities, I owned SV 4814 for years and was told the first owner was guitarist Toni Iommi but I had no proof, it wasn't until he released his autobiography with a picture of him with the car that I was sure.

    Exactly.

These cars don't come with their histories completely & neatly written down in a file, sometimes it takes years for the details to be revealed and for the picture to become complete.

Talking to the right people helps this.

Stephen - did you try putting in a V888 history request to the DVLA ?

Cost is £5, and you have to one of the registered keepers (past or present).

I wonder how far they go back with records, mind you ? - found a lot of the previous owners of my cars that way back to 95 without issue.

Thanks for that information, this is only for the UK,you have to remember a lot of cars are driven and owned by celebrities world wide and often the cars are not registered in their names for security reasons, that's why pictures that Joes gets are important, especially pictures of the Shah of Iran and other high profile personalities
