I have driven a good friends Z06 on the road. It is a beast but just too much torque. I am so used to high reving cars that I always have a tendency to give too much throttle in super high torque engines. I test drove the Grand Sport which was more to my liking with a bit let power and torque but still great handling and great on the track. I will go with the convertible with the stiff chassis and better lines.

Would like to add more pictures but I can't load anymore because I'm to my max. Is there anyway to remove older pictures from here so I can show my new ones

Just got my Z06 with Z07 package this morning. What a car! Traded my 997 Turbo for it and so glad I did. The 997 turbo is quick but has no soul. This new Z06 is an absolute blast to drive!

Depends on year and mileage of course but worth roughly the same at this point. Some of the earliest 997 turbos with high mileage can be had for a little less but no comparison between the two cars.

I have owned numerous Porsches, Maseratis, and Ferraris over the years...my Z06 is more fun to drive than all of them with the exception of my 16M.

I wonder about getting a Grand Sport convertible though...might be nicer winding up the engine revs, which in the Z06 if not careful can land you in jail or a ditch.

I just love my 'vette...I am very proud of what the US automakers are doing now...just incredible cars with performance and soul accross the board.

The case for European brands is dwindling except for true iconic halo brands like Ferrari.

Seriously, before any of you go and slap down silly money for a Huracan...drive..I mean really drive...a new Z06 manual...it will make you think twice.

To me, that's part of the appeal. Plenty of cars are easy to drive quick now. The Z06 requires some effort.

The Z06 has way too much power for the street. Nail it for 5 seconds and you're approaching felony speeds anywhere in the US. Add a little water, gravel, or sand and you're instantly part of the scenery. It was also very frustrating because everybody else accelerated so slowly at traffic lights and freeway entrance ramps. It was only satisfying under hard acceleration. I sold mine for these reasons.

My 911 Turbo is very solid, smooth, quiet and docile at low RPMs and because of this doesn't constantly beg you to stomp on it in order to appreciate it. However, stomp on it and you REALLY appreciate it. Hard to explain but easily understood once you experience it.

All that said, I've been casually thinking about adding a new Grand Sport coupe for the track. Where else can you buy a 450 HP pupose-built track car, plus full warranty, for $60K?

Grand Sport coupes can be picked up for $57K. Not just good, nothing brand new can touch it at that price, which makes it the very best. If you must have CCBs go ahead and add another $8K. You can prove your point by paying $90K if you like though.

don't know anything about buying prices or 57k but I just looked up the grand sport car configurator. wow when did chevy learn how to price options like Ferrari and Porsche?!

base price for coupe with manual trans is 66.5k. then add z07 performance for 8k, sport seats for 2.5k, auto for 2k, data recorder another 2k, carbon aero kit 4k, and at this point might as well go in for the interior pack at 10k! (but that includes the data recorder so only additional 8k).

like I said, not a cheap car

If you are buying a GS as a track car, here's how I would equip it:

    2017 GS Coupe
    1LT package
    7 speed manual
    Z07 Package (Cup 2's and CCB's)
Stage 2 aero (splitter, bigger rear spoiler, skirts)
    Performance Data recorder
    MSRP: $79,230
You could probably get the car, out the door, for $71K-$72K
This would be a crazy good track car.
FWIW, I would skip the Z07 package as the stock iron brakes are great and the stock Pilot Super Sports are great tires. These 2 major consumables would be more palatable ($$$$) without the Z07 package.
    Also,
I would not get the Comp seats, they are not worth the extra cash from a track standpoint (but they do look cooler).

I'd say "Yes" but you haven't believed a word I've said so far. For those willing to learn something though there are deals to be made. Especially if you agree that $10K interior packages and $4K carbon packages are a waste of money. I always wondered who would pay for that stuff...

don't doubt anything you've said. I just find it surprising that a new version of a hot car would be discounted already

Kerbeck is discounting Grand Sports by 12% right now, and MacMulkin is showing some at 13% discount.

Exactly. If one TRULY wants a C7 GS to track, why get the $10K interior? Why get $4K worth of CF spoilers/splitters/etc. GM has learned from Porsche/Ferrari....BIG cash in options/accessories, most of which add weight and/or cost and do nothing for performance. The nice thing is it's still GM, so the stuff like painted calipers are ONLY $595, etc.

EDIT: Kerbeck has got a slew of 2017 1LT manual GS's in stock for $59,667. All colors offered...
