Any new pics?
Hi Guys, To all my Cleveland area people and anyone that might be in town, I'd like to extend an invitation to an open house on Saturday the 17th at 11:30. I will be showing friends the prototype build and I'd love to see you there! The open house is at Pete's custom coachbuilding, where Caden's body is being made. Stick around afterwards to check out the beautiful vintage cars in Pete's shop and enjoy some Oktoberfest brats and beer. PM me for RSVP and address details. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Friends, I've got lots to share with you in my latest blog post--Photos and video from the SALAFF open house, Caden prototype build update and Introducing SALAFF Automotive! Hit the link to jump over to the blog. http://salaffautomotive.kinja.com/introducing-salaff-automotive-1786925770
Can not wait until you fire up the S85, I remember you giving my suggestion the time of day way back when. Feel flattered to have had a tiny part in the evolution of your dream. Keep going buddy, you are living many peoples dream. Much respect!
Thanks--Me too! 2016 has been challenging, but that said we very nearly have the mechanical portion of the chassis completed and I can't wait to start marrying the bodywork. A few updates on the blog if you haven't checked it out. INTRODUCING SALAFF AUTOMOTIVE I appreciate the excitement and support from yourself and others in the Fchat community!
Hi guys, We are on the home stretch, completing the scratch-built chassis this week. To celebrate, we'll be bringing the completed chassis to ArtCenter College of Design's annual Car Classic in Pasadena, California. This year's "Built By Hand" theme is just too perfect for us not to not be there! Here is info for the show as well as the SALAFF Automotive press release. Hope to see you there! For those that can't make it, I'll be sure to post lots of photos. http://sharkandminnow.com/downloads/SALAFF-ArtCenter-CarClassic-press-release.pdf CAR CLASSIC 2016 | Built By Hand | ArtCenter College of Design | Pasadena, California Image Unavailable, Please Login
The ArtCenter Car Classic is a wrap and now the Caden chassis is headed to Ohio to get a body. It's an exciting moment in the project and I'll keep you all posted on the progress. When I get a minute I'll do a blog post about the Car Classic. The Car Classic was SALAFF Automotive's public debut and first showing of the completed chassis. The response was overwhelmingly positive and the "Built By Hand" theme of the show very timely. The overall sentiment was that many enthusiasts would like to see the concepts of pure man-machine connection live on. There was a palpable appreciation for the hand-beaten bodywork, naturally-aspirated V10 power, center driving position and manual shifting found in the Caden. More to come soon. Carlos, I was a judge along with Henrik Fisker and Franz Von Hozhausen at the show. I came by a couple of times and looked at your project. Really impressive!!! Franz wanted to introduce us but you weren't around. You're one of the rare few designers to realize your dream! I'm really impressed!!! Beautiful concept!!! Freeman
Er, yeah umm, and the chassis end mount for the front shock/coil springs will last about 2 miles before failing ... I'll wait in confidence that more triangulation will be incorporated Pete
What happened to this thread?? Carlos, did your project come to fruition?! AMAZING thread and incredible build
Thanks Will and Happy New Year! I know I've been MIA a while. Frankly I've wrestled with some very difficult project-related hurdles over the course of the past few months. I've had to make some pivots in the strategy and just haven't had time to collect my thoughts and post. That said it will all be for the better and I'm very excited going forward. I look forward to getting the thread up and running again soon.
A quick video piece chronicling the inspiration and process behind the Caden supercar. Thanks to the crew at Downie Photo and the ongoing metal art happening at Pete's Custom Coachbuilding! https://vimeo.com/190571657
One of the coolest threads on F-chat. Amazing to see the concept be fully realized and created in full scale. Such an awesome video as well!
