Announcing Duemila Ruote Milan, Italy 25-27 November 2016 The whole collection was owned by Umberto Compiano of Treviso, owner of a group of companies ("Vigilanza Compiano") in the cash and valuables transport business. Very interesting. I wonder what shape the majority of the cars are in. Here are the lots: http://www.rmsothebys.com/tv16/duemila-ruote/lots/ Some additional images of the collection from EVO. The majority should be in nice condition, but all with the usual storage damages. Compiano's companies went bankrupt in 2014, so the cars have been repossessed two years ago already and spent the time since in storage. A friend of mine was told that the documents and books of many were missing, this would be a major issue, especially regarding the modern cars.
The collection includes a total of 45 Ferraris, plus many many other cars as well. All were confiscated by the Italian Guardia di Finanza on 21 October 2013. Marcel Massini
The 275 GTB s/n 08311 is a very interesting car, 6C with alloy body and very early(1st) torque tube. From the photographs it appears that it has a 3C set-up now.
6 carb setup as new from the Factory. Normally you don't see the cover over the carbs, but I'm told there are 6 under there. Best -Jarrett
Lancia Ferrari LC2 is super cool but pretty sure it isn't original.... Will be fascinating to see the full lot list
This would be a monster auction (450 cars and a total of about 700 lots once you include boats, motorcycles and such). How does it compare to the Mecum mega auctions? If they spend an average of 2 minutes per lot (seems very rushed to me given that there are some very high value stuff) and take no breaks then they'd need 23+ solid hours...
I think all of the cars are now on the site but the automobilia, motorcylces, and boats are not up yet.
Yeah, there are many more cars now on the site compared to last night but probably not quite the 430+ that they announced they'd have...
Wow , thought quite a lot of Ferrari's..then scrolled down to the Jag's..and then Porsche's..amazing.
There are cool cars (especially if the racing cars turn out to be original) but there is a lot of generic, uninspiring stuff too. The guy must have been somewhat of an automotive hoarder...
Auction to be held over three days and like Mecum will feature a few big name classics and a lot of what I can only term "used cars". Perhaps like Mecum the cars will be sold without reserve which will provide a full test of the market BUT apart from the 275 and maybe a couple of other rare cars like the Lancia there isn't much that isn't readily available on the secondary market. In 2016 most buyers must be comparing prices to ensure they aren't overpaying...... You would be crazy to not do that.
The 250 pf coupe has a non-matching engine 1589gt. It seems to me that the stamp is not the usual stamp seen on other engines. Am I correct ? Sorry but picture can only been seen on Timmy's link of original RM Sotheby's "Duemila Ruote"
I have personally seen all of the cars, there are some real gems in the collection and also lesser cars, but what can you expect in such a large collection. I have seen many, many things which I would like to own, like alfa-engined boats, motorbikes and even bicycles.
Do you really think these are all the lots? They announced that there will be 430+ cars. Last time I checked there seemed to be ~360 cars so they should be adding some more. Speaking of crazy, I don't know what else they'll add but there are already 21 E-Types! Has there ever been an auction with 21 E-Types?
Not all the cars online yet, the guys have worked so hard the last weeks in Italy , that they deserve a sunday off, some interesting cars should come online soon, I believe all the Ferrari's are online.
