Every 1/2 mile event it seems like F-cars are at the very bottom in their class. Not to mention 1/4 mile local track numbers are always pathetic. I am not talking about "magazine" numbers but actual owner cars.

For example 1/2 mile times for multiple cars (last few shift-sectors)

    740hp F12 running 155-159mph
F458's doing 150-153mph (getting beat by stock 480hp GTRs)
F430/FF/Cali not even worth mentioning they are so slow

Waiting to see some 488 numbers i guess....

    610hp huracans easily doing 158-160mph
    aventadors 161-162mph
    mclarens (570/mp4/650s) all doing 160-163mph
Porsche slaughtering the field with stock 991tt doing 155 and bolt on 991tt's doing 162-174mph
    997tt's bolt ons doing 162-168

is every Ferrari overrated by 15% power wise?

So your perfectly fine with Ferrari always losing to all of its competitors who are not dragsters themselves?

Um yes. Thats not what the car is about.

Plenty of faster cars for less money.

IMO, unless one is buying the car to professionally race with, its adolescent to care so much about those stats.

If I wanted to go really, really fast in a straight line I'd just buy a motorbike. And if I get beaten still I'd turbocharge it.

20K spend and you can be pretty sure there's not much out there faster than you in a straight line.

That totally makes sense, thanks for explaining. I did not know that Ferrari owners just dont care about performance and just want the badge. Anybody know how I get on a list for the new 2017 Ferrari limited edition golf t-shirts (the ones with the big logo on the front)?

I have a 458, 911TT and a Bull. I dont see how ownership has anything to do with the topic at hand. Even if i owned 5 LaFerraris that still wouldnt add any power to all existing Fcars.

Most of the cars you are comparing them to are AWD and can thus launch faster if the driver knows how to than a RWD car.
The Mclaren are very fast, they are lighter and have 100hp more than a 458 so it's self explanatory as to why they are faster.

Er, ah, it's just that most of us have never thought of the Ferrari as a car to use in a drag race.....

My F-car can be outrun by Nissan sedans and a lot of other cars, but what gets the looks and thumbs up and waves and "may I take a photo of that?" Why, my 28-year-old silver 328 GTB that's what.... slow, but way cool... ;)

If I just wanna go fast I go climb into the C7....

meh, launch has little to do with 1/2 trap speed (it effects ET more). your talking 1-2mph MAX a hard launch vs a soft rollout. All the big boy 2000HP GTRs and lambos that are setting records are doing a slow roll out.

anyway i think you guys missed my sarcastic title. How the hell does a 740hp car lose to cars with 150hp less HP. At the last shift sector the F12 refused to line up with with Porsche after getting spanked. It was comical as he was avoiding 95% of all other exotics there...

One F458 ran 1 pass and left while everybody else stayed and ran pass after pass. just sayin'

You actually own a lot of cars. If you are quoting numbers you actually drive.

I have to take my California T out for a 1/2 mile. You say its not worth mentioning. Tell me what you did in a half mile in your California T.

Driving my Ferrari in a straight line is boring. I actually like, curves, up hill, down hill, and braking and accelerating.

Have fun driving all the cars.

Ah the ole cognitive dissonance/confirmation bias response. Good job !

Now, if you really own what you say you own, I have to assume you are smart enough to know that there is more to performance than straight line acceleration. Right ?

Have you ever run a 458 through a course and then a Huracan or 997 ? Do that and let us know what was more FUN.

    Fun.

In addition, most Ferrari owners arent limited to just one sports car ;)

If all you care about is speed why not buy a Tesla? Why did you buy a Ferrari, 911 and a Bull?

Does the most HP really win?

You said you own a Ferrari 458, why did you buy it?

I like my 458 its a great car. I am a little pissed that my 14 year old gallardo is a hair slower than the much newer 458 in a straight line. Kind of pissed that my 458 is MUCH slower than what the magazines reported.

I would be furious if my "740hp" F12 (which i dont own) really only had 650hp.

Yes i have tracked all of my cars. Lots of fun blasting by all the Fcars in my 911TT on the back straight. ;)

If power doesnt matter why does the Laferrari need 950 claimed (850 actual) HP? ;)

    lol u guys

All an effective drag racer needs are big fat steamroller tires on the back, bags of low end torque, and an industrial strength clutch.

Hmmm. What has those things? Tractors? Yep.

If you really want to talk horsepower, head out to the heartland and go to a tractor pull. Boy diggity! That's some good times there!

Now when you want to talk about an all around drive, that would be different.
