Just to give you an idea how hard it is to buy a 5-speed in this series here is a snippet from a write up I did while searching for my 5-speed.

"There were a total of 273 400i’s brought to the US.
    Subtract 205 automatics.
    That leaves 68 5-speeds.
Subtract 6 cars that I know for sure have sunroofs, are right hand drive cars, or convertibles.
    62 cars
Subtract 9 cars with black interiors.
    53 cars
Subtract 13 cars with red, silver, or white exterior colors (can you believe there is a yellow one?).
    40 cars
Subtract 31 cars that are not original color, wrecked or salvage title cars, and cars that have not been registered or titled in the past 10 years.
That left me with a total of 9 cars to choose from."

Then all I had to do was figure out how to buy one of the 9. I PPI'd 2 cars over the course of a year.

The truth is there are not that many out there. Drive one or two. If you like it then get one. I would be willing to bet there are two kinds of these cars. Group one, cars that have been neglected for various reasons. Probably the biggest reason is the cost of maintenance. Just because these don't cost as much as the big $ cars doesn't mean they cost less to maintain. Group two, guys like me who have more money in their cars then they are worth. I know I'm upside down in my car and I'm ok with that. I plan on keeping mine for quite a while but someday will sell. I think the group one cars come up for sale a lot more than the group two, but group two cars do occasionally go up for sale.

    Good day Jack,

The only two 365's I know of for sale in the US are:

    1. 1976 Ferrari 365 GT4 2+2
This car was recently chatted about in a previous thread... price was $64800. However it looks like Gullwing now has it and is asking $79500 USD:
    http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dealer/ferrari/365gt4/1867158.html

    2. Mitchell's 365
    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/ferraris/527256-my-babys-must-go.html
I remember Mitchell having a number of 400's too and so it may be worth a PM/e-mail to him to see if he has a 400 Series with a 5-speed.

    Cheers,

    Sam

    Thank you, Sam!

If anyone is interested I noticed that the (supposedly) ex-Whitney Houston 412 is for sale in Arizona.

Edit: With all due respect, perhaps someone who knows Mitchell better than I do might suggest to him to have a reputable broker (There are a few...I have used some) handle the sale of his cars so he can maximize the price and look after his health.

You could probably vacuum enough coke out of the carpets to pay for the car.

I would definitely do a forensic PPI on the interior, like they used to do on Top Gear.

I have a 1986 412 that I was planning on putting up for sale in a few months. Car is a 5-speed with 17k miles. Lots of records. Original and very complete car with all books tools etc. it would be difficult to find a nicer car. Color is blue sera. If you are interested. Pm me. Thanks.

Car was purchased new through Ferrari of Walnut Creek and Federalized at that time, but the first owner lived in Nevada so the car was never registered in CA and is not CA legal.

Here are a couple of pictures.

Looks lovely! Blue suits these cars so well, although I'm a bit biased!

I've always wondered why ferrari left the intake cam covers natural on the 412's.

Not sure I have ever seen a 412 with the light blue (Nuvola VM 3015) dash matching the seats. Stunning combination! Does it have light blue carpets too?

That's a hell of a place to put a dealer sticker, definitely better than the trunk lid :D

    +1! Kind of downplays it.

Yes but it has the dark blue leather headliner and sun visors and was ordered that way by the first owner (I have the order form). Thanks for the compliment.
