Where did Ford say they were only building 250?
I have heard 250 per year for a 4 year run for months now. I don't remember if those numbers were part of the application information, but everything I have learned through dbk and the fordgtforum has been true. I hope we can put the Ferrari / Ford buying process to bed, and just enjoy an amazing car that should start showing up next year around the country.
And the Mayor remains silent.....I guess when you've been beaten down this often on your site of choice......
No I agree its time to move on. I was right about the PR thing. Many people who didn't get a car are disappointed about the process. There are no doubts to either of these facts. I believe the car will be great. Perhaps a modern day classic. I wish I could own one but I can't. I tried to buy the first ones in 2005 and was rebuffed rather harshly by my local Ford dealer. I bought an F430 spider instead. I blame the Ford dealer for that, not Ford. I'm glad people like Ford decided for whatever reason to make it. I wish more auto companies were as bold. Let's just leave it at that.
I can't get over the way the New GT sounds, I hear it on a fairly regular basis, since one is often parked outside my girlfriends apartment complex. It has the looks, but it sounds like a Taurus with a $200 exhaust upgrade... A startup Video Clip...so peaceful on startup I sometimes confuse it for a Ford Fusion, until it pulls away. https://photos.google.com/photo/AF1QipNInkGMRshVbh93io_Ua4SNcc5pkfF2vGRMq_A Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
404 error on that link. Is that Dearborn? I never see them on the road. Would like to, but nothing yet near their headquarters and campus.
What the heck is that? A test mule? Very cool. I see the number 3 on the hood. Is the body of this thing going to be fibreglass, CF or Aluminum? This looks like fiberglass.
Kinda looks like a kit car. Look at the door gap in the close up photo. Certainly not the production diffuser either, neither are the headlights or tail lights.
But those plates look like manufacturer plates. Might be a test mule with a quicky fiberglass body on top until the CF one is done.
Something isn't right. The mirrors look like they are off of a sport bike. This is the real thing I saw in person that Ford had on display at the Daytona 24. A lot of differences between the 2 cars. The car has been seen at this apartment in Ypsilanti Michigan for around 6 weeks. The early twenties driver lives at the apartment, and the GT is often sitting in the lot. The Mule is filled with computers and I often see the driver typing on them while in the car. The car has a very fast revving v-6, pretty much fly's through the gears once it gets on the freeway. Most people at the the complex assume that it's just a kit car. I think the body is fiberglass but I am not sure. These Clips of the Ford GT Mule should work. Saw that car at the Ford GT Rally last year and it was very early mule being used for emissions testing as I recall.
New word from Ford today. At least 6 of the fordgtforum owners that were on the wait list, got e-mails from Ford this morning telling them they had won the golden ticket as well ! Ford GT Production Expanded to Four Years
Here it is in black in Monterrey for the Concourse / Historics weekend. I have not seen it in a color I don't like. I will be updating my application in early 2018, hoping to get in the second round of action. That is a very nice sentiment. Sorry you were treated poorly by the Ford dealer. I can tell you that the Ford GT owners' group is great. What makes the GT (old and new) unique in one respect is that it attracts many buyers who would have never considered spending a similar sum of money on any other car. I'm in that category and know many just like me. It brings a whole bunch of new people, with their different perspective, into the "supercar" tent. I have a great appreciation for Ferrari and other exotics, but I would never own one for reasons that have nothing to do with finances. I just don't have the passion for them that I have for the GT40, but I certainly understand why Ferrari owners are passionate about them.
Yeah, this is nirvana for us Ford guys. Lightning has struck twice in our world, and the second strike is much more powerful than the first. The best of luck to you.
I had a close look the Ford GT on the concept lawn at Pebble Beach last weekend. I was very impressed with the quality of the interior. It was way better than I expected and at a glance it was easily as good a Ferrari's latest if not better.
