He's actually a driver believe it or not. Not just the road rally stuff, but he also does some track stuff and has some racers for friends. He butchered his Ferrari. I don't think he did to his mcLaren.
Not a fan overall with how Ford treated this whole social media campaign, almost the equivalent of Lebron James' "The Decision" several years back, haha. Agree with the premise that Ferrari does it too but does it in private. Also agree that Ford is too big a company to worry about social media to drive sales. Would it only be driving sales of supercars? Supercars are not their bread and butter business. As for the car itself, I think there might be a silver lining here for some. My gut tells me that the new GT will probably not be as good a driver as the older one. I'm basing this on the lack of a manual transmission and turbo v6 versus supercharged V8. It's a simple comparison that I make with recent Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Porsches as well. I drove the older one once and it was amazing. The sound and rawness were out of this world, way more of an event than a standard F430 or Gallardo. This new car I'll say looks better than the older one, and probably will have great "numbers". If you wanted this car because you're a Ford GT loyalist, my condolences. If you missed out and were hoping for a more visceral car, my best guess is you lucked out.
I've driven a 675, wouldn't have been my choice of words in referring to the car on my most sarcastic day.
Has Ford actually published a 'list' of the 500 'winners' for the chance to get a GT? I haven't seen a list of said winners.
When??? What's wrong with now? You didn't answer my question Why not be completely fair to everyone and put all qualified candidates in a hat and then draw out 500 with complete transparency, thereby not upsetting anyone who applied. Wouldn't that be completely fair to everyone? Wouldn't that protect those who "aren't rich"? What is wrong with that? Still waiting....
I'm not answering your question because we're now several rings removed from the original circle of denial hell you started in. These are the facts: You made of bunch of assertions about the Ford GT allocation process. Those assertions were wrong. You were shown they were wrong. You will not admit they were wrong. You will start new arguments until you find one that you can win.
Ummm--Lets see-- 1.) The car is being produced by Ford, designed by Ford (and MTC), but 100% paid for by Ford. 2.) So it is Ford's product to do with as they want. 3.) Ford can sell it to who they want, at whatever price they want, in what ever spec they want. Customer either agrees or doesn't but the car. 3.) What "the customer" wants is irrelevant. 4.) Whether "any customer" thinks that is fair or not is irrelevant. 5.) You can say all you want about how Ford should respect this type of customer over that type of customer but that is your personal assessment of how "things" should be. And that is the most irrelevant thing of all with regards to what Ford does. 6.) I want a Ferrari 458 Speciale. But it is out of my price range. So I should tell Ferrari they are unfairly excluding me? I have 2 Ferrari's now, plus owned a third. I am in the business, I race cars, etc. I am being unfairly treated here!! In the end-As Clint Eastwood has said "Get over it."
Please show me wrong. Please answer the question. Please explain this: Ford did a super job -- of pizzing off its best customers using them as a giant social media game. Good idea or bad idea? Hey, what the heck. Ferrari does it every day so as they say "what difference does it make?" The GT is one giant Ford PR Stunt. Nothing wrong in that because 500 very lucky people will be able to get one. I wish all PR stunts produced something this magnificent and ground breaking. The only problem is the stunt backfires when you find out the rules to the game were rigged.
Sure. You can start here. But everyone knows what's coming next. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/144830612-post758.html What's that they say about the river in Egypt?
I'm hesitant to engage you on this point as it will be another half hour of my life that I'll never get back, but what facts do you rely on to support your contention that "the rules to the game were rigged?"
Can't wait to see the GT's real world performance. My bet is a car that has no better numbers than the current 488. Performance talks and BS walks. I saw the car at Oshkosh last year during AirVenture 2015. Got up close and looked it over. Meh. 2005 Ford GT combined with a Lambo Aventador. I certainly hope they updated the interior as well. As a long time owner of two Ford Gt's it got a rating of 5 on a 1 - 10 scale. Again, blah.
Yeah, considering the car isn't in production yet, that's not really a surprise. But I mean, if the Speciale is slower than the 488, why would you want it?
Because it isn't. Tire technology. Not to mention the 488 is ugly with those two buttholes above each door. I don't drag race anyway - the Speciale on a track will stay right with a 488z
So what you're saying is there are reasons beyond numerical performance you'd choose one car over another?
The goalpost for the Ford GT was the 458 Speciale, plus some "reserve". That is for your standard performance numbers, etc. Where the Ford Gt is really unique is in the overall architecture and design of the chassis and suspension, etc. Take the body off the car and the rolling chassis looks just like a current LMP car. It has race style pushrod front suspension using co-axial torsion bars. Same as on rear. First time ever done on a street car. Suspension kinematics are all biased towards performance, etc. NVH was a secondary concern. The street car has a "zero" keel front chassis structure-just like an F1 car. And has a raised nose like an F1 car. Again-all never before done on a street car. There is a bunch more. Big thing to note is that this car is closer to a race car than any street car ever made. The difference between the street Ford GT and the race car is pretty small. The idea of this car is and was a no compromise performance car-based on feel and response-not on performance numbers. It will be a very cool car to own. Especially if you like engineering porn! This car is stuffed with it everwhere.
Wasn't an argument. I was leading you to rebut your own assessment, which you've done. The statistical performance between the two is going to be completely irrelevant for 99.9% of people.
