I bought this about a year ago so not really a new acquisition. It's a 1994 RC with beige interior 2700 mile car. Bought it from Ferrari of Washington and paid top dollars. It was around $490k including tax that I paid. Had been looking for a clean 94 for a while and this came up so I grabbed it.
Thanks for sharing the background and pics of your car and fantastic collection. I'm in Northern Virginia and familiar with FoW (they now have a 93 512TR for sale) and recall a discussion about your very car. You have a true gem - enjoy it! My own 92 just clicked 30K mi (no diff issues despite all the talk btw) last week, so enjoy your car!
Thanks. I took it out last weekend and it was a blast to go through those gears. It really drives new and 512TRs just looks amazing each time I look at one.
Mytoys Bottom line is... Rosso Corsa is most bought color because??? It always looks like a race track car. Congrats on a beautiful specimen. Would you mind sharing with us who/ what your Tr's stablemates are. Too many people here wonder how certain cars dont get mileage after so many years. " its not what Ferrari you have, its how many"
They are in his profile - I checked after I asked the same question. The 512TR is the one classic amongst contemporaries. 1994 512TR 2015 458 Speciale 2011 599 GTO 2016 488 spider The only mistake I see is that he sold his AM Vanquish (Previously owned). That work of art like a 512TR belongs in any true collectors stable (ask me how I know ) - both are a must.
Assuming the question is not rhetorical.... In the old days, F1 cars raced under their national color. British green, French baby blue, German silver and Italian red. Folks associate red with Italian cars. It is more complicated than that, but you get the idea.... https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_international_auto_racing_colours Cheers, Vincenzo
Thanks sherrillt. Also have a few daily drivers and a GT3RS. I just sold the FF and waiting for my TDF which was ordered in Feb and speced out in March. Another car I'm waiting for is the 675LT spider which should be here this fall. I only drive these cars on weekends so all of them have very low miles. 512 has less than 2800 miles, 599 GTO and 458 speciale both has less than 300 miles and I've only had the 488 for a few weeks so it's got less than 70 miles. Yes I had an 06 vanguish S. Tungsten grey with black interior. Beautiful car but back then I didn't have the garage space.
I had a yellow 355, silver 360 spider, black 16M, silver 599, white 458s and Nero Daytona Cali T. So I've tried other colors. My thought is if it's a car I plan to keep for a long time 10+ years, I will spec them out red, whether it's RC or other shades of red and if it's not one I plan to collect then it doesn't have to be red. I still like red on Ferraris, just my humble opinion
Congrats! Very interested to hear your opinions (and motivation?) about the transition. At this mileage will you want to drive it though?
I have some other fast track cars and I did not have any more room so the 458 had to go. Well I cant afford 288 GTO, F 40, F 50, currently, so I believe this is close as I could get to them. I want to do Concourse judge shows with it also. And yes I do plan on driving it that's why low miles so I can put some on it and still be less than most. The owner before was ill for long period of time and died so it sat for 10 years. The reason for the low miles. It's had a full engine out service and all fluids drained and replaced and tires etc. just hoping there's not too many surprises.
Completely different machines. 458 is kind of a magic carpet ride high-tech machine, of course with superior performance. 512 TR is what I call 80s tech, Very analog and heaiver by 600#s, but that Rear end
