Pretty sure this is the only 220 I've ever seen listed for sale - I'm guessing any or most of these that changed hands did so "quietly".

Jut throw the price up there, John... you know everybody wants to know, and for something this rare, you're gonna get a whole lot of inquiries from non-serious people who are simply curious. Save yourself some time fielding emails from strokers. :)

Considering how limited production these are, that's better than I expected.

    I have the same problem!

Years ago, I spoke to a mechanic at Norwood's about the 220.

    He claimed the following.

    No manual exists.
Spec'd transmission fluid is no longer available.
You cannot go to a Jag dealer and order parts with the factory part #'s.
Fuel bladders you answered that. (He claimed five years on the fuel bladder cells)

Don Law Racing in the UK are the specialists for these worldwide, utter rubbish about them being unusable these days due to lack of spare parts, Don bought up the entire stockpile of components from Jaguar, and has a warehouse full of bits, even enough to build entire cars.

We actually purchased new fuel pumps from the dealer.

A manual does exist, including workshop manuals.

Transmission fluid seems like an easy remedy, but cannot comment.

Agreed. Don Law was not the most helpful considering we wanted to do the work here, BUT they have everything and ARE the experts in these cars. I know of numerous owners who have gone to them receiving VERY usable (w/ insane upgrades) XJ220's.

Don Law is not helpful at all is you don't send your car to him , does not answer emails for a few months. Fuel cell is made by ATL, can get one made for about 4k and lies between the engine and passenger compartment, no big deal to change.
The rest is straight forward, fabulous transmission and the engine is a cosworth motor.
Very usable car and very easy to drive. If anything, brakes need upgrading.

He is an independant repair specialist at the end of the day not a Jaguar agent, and has invested heavily in these cars when Jaguar or anyone else was not interested. Answering numerous emails everyday does not pay the bills or just supplying the rare parts either I imagine, his business is actually carrying out the work for owners, and I understand its pretty much just him and his son Justin.

I disagree with you. I sent emails wanting to buy parts and he completely ignored them. So we manufactured the parts in house . i was not looking for free information.
It is not practical to send a North American car to the UK every time it needs work, something for him to consider.
I am not sure he cares anyway.

Only playing devils advocate here, but when you only have a limited stock of components you tend to keep those for the customers who also want you to fit them. Sell those components on to other people and you are shooting yourself and your business in the foot when you eventually run out of said parts.

I watched a documentary of the set up a while back, customers send cars from all over the world to Don Law for work to to be carried out, his business is not simply selling parts which is probably why you did not get a reply.

I agree a simple reply could spell that out, but not everyone is computer savvy and don't live their lives around them.

Just as much of a waste of time as sending emails. Left numerous messages and i believe i got 1 call returned. Take my word for it, if you don't send you car there, you are at the bottom of the food chain.
Ultimately it is his business, he can carry on as he likes. There are not enough cars in North America to make a difference one way or another to his bottom line, so my guess is that he concentrates on European customers.
I would never send my car to him based on my experience, my race shop can make all the parts.

Dream car for many of us of a certain age. Fantastic to this day & should fetch good money.

Only have to wonder - what would the value be if Jag had followed through with the V12 from the original specs? Guessing at that point it would easily be a 7 figure car.

Don't have the scratch either way, but I wouldn't whine too much if I could own the car as it was released. :)

I'm still kicking myself for not buying the one that was up for auction at the first Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas auction a few years ago,, It was blue and although I forget what it sold for, I remember thinking, I should have bought it (if I recall correctly it went for somewhere around $100-120k)

I remember the racing series with these at the time. A bunch of them got pretty badly banged up as I recall. Like here:

Beautiful car John ! good luck with sale .

A real ratty XJ220 just sold at Auctions America for 357k....non running car that needs fuel tank, full service and cosmetically rough with dash shrinkage and dings.

Driven about 20 miles per year. That doesn't sound good for someone who plans to actually use the car.

Gosh I saw this car, it was green, a year ago in the museum so I didn't inspect it as though I was going to buy it. If that's the same car you're talking about then I think calling it real ratty and rough is way over the top. As you may know the owner died tragically of cancer not that long ago and I guess the family just wanted to liquidate these cars as is at this auction. There will be others from his collection later at Monterey.
