He is either really early or really late. Maybe even at the wrong location. Or his car won't start and it is still sitting in the parking lot waiting for the rollback.
I was early- had to drop my daughter off for her Cross Country meet at 6AM, so headed out to C&C right afterwards. There were probably about 15-20 cars already there at that time. But I got a nice spot away from everyone else.
Hi Roger, I'm in the same boat as you. I've also just bought my first Ferrari, '74 308 GT4, so it's a little earlier than yours (9054). I'm not too far away (Lutterworth) if you fancy meeting up for a beer or coffee sometime to swap notes. There are a couple of good cafes on the A5 around Towcester, which I'm guessing is around half way. Paul
GT4 managed pretty well on its first (and my first) historic rally. Combination of roadbook navigation and flat out special stages at Dunsfold (Top Gear track etc), Farnborough airfield and the RAC Club in Epsom. Suspension raised an inch to cope with rough tarmac and concrete - we ran well until the rear distributor deserted me for the last two stages! Bring on the next one... Send an email to Tony Willis, [email protected] Tony Was Sales Director at Maranello Concessionaires and rescued their archives when they were about to be binned. He now works as a consultant for FNE on Classiche. Really good bloke. Sadly, a lot of the records of GT4s were destroyed before he got his hands on them so he only has basic information on them.
Roger, do you know if yours is a 1979 or 1980 model? By my records, 15398 is a 1979 model and 15512 is a 1980 model. I'd like to find the break-point, so you can help narrow the range.
Excellent. Sounds like a plan. Somewhere like Jackshill Cafe? Normally a meet there (classic and american) on the 2nd friday of the month, but that appears to have stopped? Not sure why. But yes, up for that.
Not exactly sure in the UK. Here in the US market, all cars have a plate on the driver's door frame which shows serial number and date of manufacture. For example, mine says "April 1975".
Well, Roger, I looked back at a database that Peter from Canada compiled, and it says that S/N 15450 is a 1980 model. His database can be found HERE: Dino GT4 Registry: Cars built in 1980 The old Denny Schue registry has another tidbit: from 19??-1987 your car was owned by one B. E. Milner, in Stoke on Kent. Denny's registry is at http://www.dinoregister.com/search.php?detailsearch=15450-1 Pretty cool!
Cool photo, j.g! I like your color combo. Something else... this angle makes the rear 'haunches' seem much more muscular, almost like something along the lines of a 355 Berlinetta. It flatters the design and softens the angularity of the lines. Rgds, Mark
