Was picking up my stradale from annual service and chatting with the sales person. He mentioned that i could trade-in my 12.5k mile 2004 stradale for a 11k mile 2009 430 Scuderia (similar color and interior specs to my stradale) and get 35k cash back. Got me thinking for a while. Tempting, but no thanks. Then, on the way out, they threw a 2012 458 Coupe with 4k miles at me. Almost "pulled me back in". Thanks but no thanks again. I scurried out of there.

Finally, driving home in my stradale, it all made sense - the sound of that 5 valve per cylinder screaming engine... where is anyone going to find another thrill ride like that???

But if stradale prices ever get to 458 Speciale prices, i will have to admit, i think I will cave. On the other hand, 5 years ago, i had thought it be a no-brainer trading in my stradale for a 430 scuderia if prices ever got on par... yeah right - "you are ******** right I won't make that mistake!"

But man, the stradale, what a car - it reminds you every time you fire up the engine.

I think regardless of the monetary value, and ofcourse there will be people only thinking about this element of the CS, the car itself will always be "epic" to own, drive and experience. With the 10yrs of R&D (And hard graft at times!) I think I have finally got my "perfect" car sitting in my garage right now (well nearly perfect, there are always details to do).

Regardless of how much faster cars like the 488 become its going to be very very hard to top the overall package that makes the CS so spectacular in the first place. Probably one of the loudest, most tuneful Ferrari's out there and with recent global legislation and turbo's, cars just aren't getting any better sounding that's for sure!!

This shouldn't be surprising given where CS prices sit.. They are at = value or > than scud

I'd do it for a Speciale. Otherwise there's truly no other car I want in the price range of my CS.

yes, the value of CS has been steadily rising... but I'd rather have a Scud.

Sadly, I don't think Stradale prices will get to par with Speciale, especially with the turbo engines for 488 and potentially any 488 stradale/scuderia/speciale variant. Seems like 458 Speciale might be the last naturally aspirated track focused V8 ferrari for the near future...

A buddy of mine with a lower mileage CS might be interested in this trade, but he wants more cash and more documentation on the scuderia in question. My buddy has first dibs... PM me your details etc? If his deal falls through, i will let you know.

I have forwarded this thread to my friend, trying to have you guys convince him to hold onto his stradale.

The scud is tempting with the cash, but not the 458 to me.

Crazy appreciation though because when I bought my scud a year ago, there was a similar spec CS at Ferrari of San Fran for 10k less. Shows what the market has done on the CS.

    LOL!!!!

Seriously though, I cannot get past the looks of the spec. I did see a nice white one with the Italian flag colors for a stripe that I could warm up to ; )

Personally I'd of traded the CS for the Scud, taken the 35k safe in the knowledge that the Scud prices are now rising and within 12 months will be back on par with CS values and you are driving a better car to boot! Still I fully understand keeping the CS as well and I seriously doubt a Speciale would make a more compelling option for you at some future date than the Scud did now.

I would absolutely keep the cs. I don't care that the speciale or scuderia is faster (something always is)... It's not a cs!

I agree. I mean let's get real here - do we really need these cars to go faster when the speed limit here is 55/70 mph (not that I ever do the speed limit)? My 360 is plenty fast for me, had it up to 150 a couple of times since I have owned it and that is all the car I need! You just do not get any better than the CS sound with the race exhaust (which I also have on my 360).
I heard a 458 go by me the other day on the highway and the sound was very muted and not nearly as aggressive as CS.

Got to be honest, I love the looks and sound of my CS vs the Scud and wouldn't trade for one. But on the other hand, an even trade for a 16M, now that's another story.

I have both CS and Scud and you really can't go wrong with either - they are truly both fantastic.

I drove my Scud to work today actually - love the summer traffic!

I have not driven a 458 Speciale, I hear that it is not raw at all. Are there any speciale owners that have scud or CS too? I would be curious to hear comparison.
