The owner is asking $1.2 million (NZD I guess) apparently and its based on a 68 365 GT 2+2

This car is amazing. Rod Tempero, the constructor from Oamaru in NZ is a true craftsman and the car is perfect. His family have been building cars such as this for decades.

Ridiculous.. 1.2M for a replica... I'd rather buy a real 330GT, 330GTC, etc. for that kind of money.

While it may not be ethical in some minds, it is not illegal. As you said, if it is for your own personal use you can do what you like. What would Maranello think of it? They might not like it at all........tough for them.

I actually had the President of Ferrari Canada (Remo Ferri) stop by when he saw my Dino replica that I am working on. When he realized it was not a real one he said "Ferrari doesn't like it when people do that". He wasn't angry at all (well, maybe he was inside), and seemed good-natured about it (but likely wasn't). We chatted briefly, he gave me his card and left. Haven't had any lawyers stop by yet!

No mention of what the engine is? I'm guessing 330 or similar? For my 10c, if the engine is Ferrari, then the car is Ferrari - they are not coach builders... If it were mine, I'd omit any reference to 250 and just call it a "Ferrari Speciale". It truly is a work of art.

this has been posted and discussed in vintage a year or so ago. I personally love this car and would be proud to drive this anywhere.

Ebay listing stated it was based on a 365 GT 2+2 and that it was equipped with a 4.4 liter (365) engine, so I would assume that means that it is a 365 GT 2+2 engine as well. Listing also states that it is registered as a "1968 365 GTO Replica."

For what it is -- it would be a fun car to play with. There are a few things wrong with the shape of the body but then again a lot of restorations aren't exactly correct either.

Owner of above is building a recreation of 0402AM currently (look at their Facebook page) -- and it will be interesting to see how it looks when finished. I've been very hesitant in releasing my restoration photos of this 375 from years ago because of recreations. I'd hate to see Jon go down the road in his original and possibly see something driving the other way that looks similar! Not cool.
