It is definitely better than being there, if you want to be updated. But the atmosphere (hundreds of thousands car guys from all over the world are everywhere you look) and hearing the cars live is something to really experience. There were 911 RS's and Aston Martins parked in ditches because lack of parking space.

I will upload pictures from my 2011 trip, so much fun

Did anyone see the stress level of that Finnish driver at night? Wet on some parts, limited vision, cars off everywhere, slow cars approaching...and a stress level of 0-3%. For anyone else it was 30%+!!!

    Those Fins...*shakes head*

A crazy night. That fuel fire in the pits on the R8 was NUTS!

29:00 left, Jimmy just pitted. Probably some last checks to make sure they finish.

On a side note, I think it's awesome the Opel Manta is racing with a fox tail hanging off the antenna. LOL!

8:00 left and Jimmy needed a push start by the crew to get out of the pits. The crowd cheered when it fired up.

Congrats on the 37th over all finish Jimmy. One heck of a race.

The Audi R8 and BMW Z4 had the closest finish in 24hr of the Nurburgring with only 40.7 seconds between 1st and 2nd place. CRAZY!

Great race. Nicely done by SCG.

Very impressed with the Subaru WRX-STi coming in 19th overall!! :)

One of the best races. F1 has no life for it. I couldnt stop watching this year other than sleep. Wow! The Ring is alive again. Well done!

Well done Jim and crew! 37 out of what, 140-150 entrants? Not too bad for a vehicle we were all watching being designed and built for the first time just a few months back. I'm trying to figure out which class the 003 was racing in and where it finished in its class. Anyone have this info?

Can't wait to see what your next move is Jim!

A Subaru WRX STI finishes 19th OA ?!! Of course it's a "race car", but, just shows how reliability (and luck?) trumps all in endurance racing. Fastest lap 9:09 ; SCG003's was 8:26

151 entrants. Just finishing the 24hr is an accomplishment in and of itself. I just looked at the updated results, 35th over all. Jim is in the solo SP-X class. Had they not had the issue with the power steering and alternator belt it would not surprise me if he would have been in the lead pack. Next year, next year. Plus they have all the knowledge they learned this year.

Considering SCG003C is a fresh design designed and built from scratch, this performance has got to rank very highly indeed. I didn't see many (read any) so called 'proven' Ferraris or McLarens out there... Well done to all the team. Year 1 was always going to be hard, but the base if this car is obviously competitive and what issues there were seem simple enough to engineer away for next year. I might just have to get down there and watch that one 'live'! Supporting a pack if SCGs taking it to the Germans would be epic!

Congrats to all. Winners for sure.

Yes very well done indeed to simply finish.
Would be interesting to know what their place would have been if the time in the garage was added to their on-track time.

Also interesting that even with the speed limit zones the best lap times were close (better?) than last year's.

Late last night the german feed showed some in-car (not nearly enough) of a 911 going through the Flugplatz 200kph speed zone (indicated with bright flashing lights), it then accelerated up to ~250kph before slowing to the next speed zone right at the crest of Schwedenkreuz.

At least 2 drivers lost their 'Ring racing license for not slowing for yellow-flagged accidents. Didn't see the footage but supposedly was way too close to being a disaster, with marshals almost being hit.

Would love to see a full race highlights reel in HD.

Hopefully Jim will post in-car footage from SGC003.

    congrats!
