Interesting how the gated shifter is nicely integrated into the center console, where as the 612 is mounted above the console, like the original GTO.

This is a cool thread. Is the picture above of the "dedication plaque" that they offered when new? If so, they would write anything you wanted on it...

This thread is a great idea, BTW!

My fathers friend has a pozzi blue 599 GTB manual that he claims is the last one made. I don't have an s/n but I'll do my best to access it.

I don't know. The guy could claim it was the last 599 when his car was produced, because up 'till then it was!

There are two shift knobs on the manual 599. The standard vintage GTO style metal ball and an optional carbon fiber knob.

Then there is the ex-Nocolas Cage 2009 manual 599 featured in the Nov. 2014 Automobile Magazine. This car supposedly moved to Canada. Serial Number?

Gary- The black RHD looks like an HGTE, but is a conversion because she has standard 599 seats. She does have the wheels and exhaust, but no telling what else.

Also, an interesting detail is that for the aluminum gear shift knob, the shift pattern is on the knob, but laws requiring a visible shift pattern image moved the pattern to the shifter gate, replacing the Cavallino, on the CF knobbed 599.

Terry- Interesting detail about shift knob laws. The Feds get their sticky fingers on everything.
And I'll bet all of the HGTE manuals have had the kit added by the dealer.
I know that was the case with the ex-Nick Cage car and the Silverstone 150551.

It's only unfortunate if you have to sell into a bad market. Not the case right now. If I had one of of these I would certainly consider selling even if I did not need to. Clearly there are some very interested buyers right now.

Unfortunate would have been if you had to sell say 6 months ago when the value was ⅓ of the latest realized price, no?

It is unfortunate because i love driving the 599 and my 612 6spd. With values up i am too scared to drive them anymore. I might as well sell them off and invest the money into a building I'm looking at. But i don't want to get off topic.

It would be thoughtful if manual owners informed us of their serial numbers. USA manuals are almost as rare as 250 GTOs. There are many Ferrari historians who seriously track rare serial numbers, so please provide the last 6 numbers of your VIN if you honestly own a manual 599. (This is not some big secret... anybody walking by your parked car can read your VIN at the bottom of your windshield.)

As the first photo I posted of 162942 wasn't very good, here are a couple more. The photo of the driver's side is from Carbon McCoy when he saw the car in Pasadena. I actually saw this car for sale on Ebay a few years ago. The owner didn't even bother to mention the car was a manual in the auction's title.

For those who own manuals.....how do they shift? My TR has the typical 'notch' feel to it. My old 964 Porsches with the G50 trannys were a dream to shift compared to the TR. Not complaining, but there is no speed shifting in the TR.

Anyone care to describe how your unicorn shifts?
