I can think of at least half a dozen drivers who have been caught in NASCAR drug testing alone...Allmendinger, Randy LaJoie, Shane Hmiel, Jeremy Mayfield, Kevin Grubb, Tyler Walker. and that's from "random" drug testing!

You're forgetting the paranoia side effects. Such paranoia could have made Ward feel a racing incident was actually an attempt to kill him and so responded with aggression.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Not that I have any personal experience with Ganja but THC, regardless of intake amount, can stay in ones system for up to 30 days. Any detectable amount rules said offender as a risk and not possessing full clarity.

Like any drug, it affects different people in different ways. Combined with adrenaline, who knows? But we did observe that behavior and I assume that the toxicology report was performed correctly, so it is what it is. Ward killed himself. Sad.

Sadly that is the truth even without THC.

I have no sympathy for anyone smoking pot and could care less what new laws are being written / passed to allow for it!

Pot stays detectable in the urine for more than a month, so it will also be detectable systemically. He may have had no more than a trace amount, just to be fair.

It also messes with your depth perception in a major way (or so I've been told).

Do you know if any of them were busted for impairment levels of THC? That seems like the last drug you would want to use before racing.

Any traceable amount is reason for suspicion, the GJ made the right decision, case closed.

DA indicated that he had enough to "impair judgment."

From the article a few posts back...........

" Also, Ward was under the influence of marijuana when he was killed and Orange County District Attorney Michael Tantillo said it was “enough to impair judgment.”

That sounds more like he lit one up at the track that night as opposed to them finding a trace amount from something he may have done 20 days before the incident.

    Mayfield- meth
    Hmiel - marijuana AND cocaine!
Grubb- not released, but he failed one test and refused another.
Walker- not released (he was recently convicted on meth and marijuana possession/distribution)

    Good ending.

It sounds like Ward shouldn't have even had a crew pass much less been out on the track. Stupid.

Thanks for info. Honestly, the one above scares me less than marijuana alone for racing because at least there was a stimulant to counteract the pot.

No matter what you think of pot it's an act of great irresponsibility to race under the influence of any drug.
Given the circumstances its Stewart who has cause to bring suit.

    Not saying that he will.

Or... you could have the marijuana making him feel paranoid and slowing reactions while the cocaine makes him feel euphoric and invincible. Not a good combination, in my opinion.

The balance of excitation and inhibition in the brain is not a simple seesaw, it varies considerably by region and receptor. One cannot smoke marijuana and then counteract it with a specified amount of cocaine to acheive normal function again.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

    With pot?

    Sources & links please.

AFAIK, it's pretty much impossible to 'overdose' on pot.

Coke, meth, many *legal*, big pharma drugs, sure.

    But not pot.
