That's interesting. I never knew there was such a thing as a continuation car in Ferrari history.

Was this a factory-approved effort, or did the original engineers build this privately away from the factory years later to effectively recreate their earlier accomplishments at the factor?

    All the best,
    Andrew.

$5.5M for a replica. And it's not even a joke. Wow. When crap like this is not laughed at, the market is in for a crash.

This thread should be moved to re creation section were is belongs.

This is a lot of money for a replica. You can buy some real Ferraris for that kind of money.

The advert is brilliant example of a salesman's patter

"I submit to you that if Van Gogh painted a picture, but 12 years later than his last, painted another, is it a real Van Gogh? And also attached is a picture taken in 2008 of all the old Ferrari and Scaglietti Engineers, whom have verified the car as real"

    Real what ?

Question. If you persuaded "Van Gogh's" engineers to build you another "continuation TR" what would it cost ?

A doner car would not give you the original competition parts and you still need a TR chassis and body. $5.5m is ridiculous but I know of a good replica going for seven figures and the build cost can't be that far off

With the TR gathering at Peeble this year timing may be good on this one, however anyone with this kind of money to spend is probably too smart to see it as other than it is..a repro, maybe a nice one built by the right people but still a repro

    Hi Michael,

I've looked at the picture but to me it does read 0999, not 0989.

    Best, Peter

Now i looked through the pics from the link in the first post and there is a stamping on the engine block that clearly shows 0999GT.
but this older pic shows a different stamping 0989GT.
    strange case anyway!

This answers some of my questions from 2012:

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/141665544-post33.html

So, almost to this date someone still tried to pass it as the real 0716TR...
