At least you can go to the Alfa Romeo dealer for a lot of parts. The entire centre-section, including glass and roof are from an Alfa Spider. I think even the door-cards are.

    What a silly proposition.

    Best,

    Jack.

    Yes, down to $79,000.

Now have to find an early Corvette body
with the right wheelbase, and build a
"Corvette Replica" with a Ferrari donor.

Or more advised to find a Datsun / 250 GTO
    and drop that on.

Would that be a "current re-body",
    a replica or a Classic re-body ?

    Almost NOTHING would look worse.

and BTW, what is the intrinsic value of a
    well-maintained, running 365 Chassis
    and power train.....?

Probably their idea was to make it look like a 365 California.

Funny how sometimes things that look good on paper go so horribly wrong.

Yes, that one is ugly too. But, at least, it has provenance on its side as it was created by Coco Chinetti and can claim a NART association. The subject car here, on the other hand, appears to be the product of Jim Bob and his second cousin, a sawzall, and a 24 pack (or two) of Bud Light...

Wow, this is the first I've heard/seen of the Chinetti car -- it is difficult to look at from the front. Is there an Fchat thread or a link with more info on it?

Possibly. You could search for it. I do know that it was the cover car for the April 1989 issue of Automobile magazine.

Holy cow, that thing is even uglier from the side. Jim Bob is starting to look like Rodin to me now.

Maybe the right thing is to start another thread about the Chinetti car, but for a better comparison, here are some large photos: 1969 Ferrari NART Spyder 365 Grintosa | Conceptcarz.com

The overall shape of the Chinetti car is better than the subject car of this thread, but that shape is kind of ruined IMO by the very front sections of the nose/headlights, the side vents, and rear tire covers. A 365 GTC was lost for this, but I guess it's good that history has been preserved.

I went back and took another look at this car,
and called Spencer, who is handling the car for
    Fantasy Junction.

    We had a nice chat.

Seems that the car was built by a Boeing
engineer, as a tribute to the NART 250 or
275 spyders. I think the rear of the car,
and the vestigial tail lights reflect this
    intention.

Also, the wheelbase was shortened almost a foot,
to about 93 inches, resulting in a car with
much quicker handling, and good acceleration
with the much-lighter alloy 2-place body.

I am tempted to repaint in NART blue,
so the body shape is a little less prominent.

For the money, this alloy-body convertible
2-place Ferrari is hard to beat.

If it turns out that the body is a great distraction
to later purchasers, than the remainder is about
the right size to accept a 250 GTO style body....

The car in the beginning of the thread looks like the result of someone describing a 275 NART over the phone to someone who is crap at drawing who in turn left the drawings to a crap builder...
