Lately, it seems the trend for most cars are towards a very angular design, ala Aventador. Even Mercedes and Range Rover have angulated the design of their models. Whatever happened to the smooth curves of the past....E type, CS, CGT. Are these classic lines a thing of the past?

I tend to like angular modern designs over curved rounded organic shapes. I like to see a car that looks like it was actually manufactured at a factory and not like it was organically grown on a farm. The 288 GTO to me is the greatest automotive design and is a perfect combination of rounded and angular styles. Even the Countach with all its angularity has some beautiful curves in its body. It seems the greatest cars are a combination of the best of both worlds.

Depends on the car. I think the CGT is one of the best looking supercars, and the Enzo to be ugly. On the other hand the Diablo and F40 are 2 of my favorite cars of all time. I think it comes down to execution more than anything.

I prefer the styling of curvy swoopy cars, like the European sports cars of the 50's and 60's. I dislike the carburetors though.

I like cars that incorporate both My Porsche 944 would be a good example.

On design alone, which looks more appealing? And timeless?
(try not to get swayed by performance)

Second car is perhaps a poor example of angular design. Put a Countach (or even Esprit) and 360 side by side and see the reaction.

Put a Miura and Countach side by side, that's the best comparison of angular and curvy. Not much to pick between them IMO, both look awesome though the Miura has an edge for me.

Well I think the Aventador represents the quintessential "angularity" of design.
However for the many who request the Countach...

Depends how the angles are made for the car. I love wedge design cars like the E38 BMW. Gives it an aggressive look, but can become dated rather quickly. Not saying it will become ugly, just that it shows its age quicker compared to the 360 that people may not know how old it is.

The Enzo is a poor example as imo the sharp angles were done incorrectly and I don't find it to be a physically appealing car. I only like it in black as it hides the lines. Lamborghini has always done the cars well with sharp lines.

    e38? Don't you mean the e31 (8 series)?

E31 is an extreme version of angles by BMW, but I was more referring to the overall wedge design (side profile) of the E38 that is more pronounced compared to the E36 and E39 given its length. The E31 is even more wedge shape so it would have been a better example. I saw one last week and it still looks good. :)

Angular....some can be over done..a mix is good, to many curves for me dont seem to do much...

Definitely sleek, in all 3 comparisons you posted.
Sleek seems to be more timeless in my eyes, while angular shows its age fairly quickly.

As with other things in life, It's not just that something has curves that makes it beautiful. it's all in the execution. Always remember, a curve can become a fold real easy.

I like all cool cars - any shape will do. Preference? Cars that have girl features (curves)
not boy features (hard straight lines).... not that there's anything wrong with that.

There are good curves and bad curves. I just prefer designs that are not Rosie O'Donnell inspired.:)

    I like curves:D
Some angles I like and some I don't. I like the f40 a lot, Enzo not so much. F50 is ok, but the 288 takes it. It just depends on the car. While I like most Lambo designs, they don't draw me in. A 275 GTB or 250 Cal Spyder, that's it.

Their are two very different kinds of attention....

1-people look at the car because it is pretty/good looking car.
2-people look because the car is the equivalent of an autistic kid waving his arms in the air.
