The deals on these have finally peaked my interest, going to talk to the dealer. I have been offered a really good deal on a C model but not sure I like the way the top works. Anyone drive one? Looks like you cannot see out the back when it is down.

I finally got around to painting the chrome trim with plastidip to match my mirrors and stripe.

I really happy with how it turned out.

I am leaning towards the coupe and found a great deal of a fully loaded 2013. For under 20K it is hard to say no to one of these. Should be fun to start messing with it.

I'm not familiar with plastidip vs. paint. How well does it stick on? I've been wanting to do the same thing but not taken the plunge and have been loaded down with work lately. Did you do it yourself? How long did it take if so? Did you do the front "mustache" as well?

Plastidip is very different than paint. Mostly because it can easily be peeled off at any time. There's plenty info about it on google and YouTube. Check dipyourcar.com for more info.

I attempted to do the chrome on the front, but I wasn't happy with my work. I removed it and will reapply soon. So far, I've just done my door handles and the rear chrome. It took me about two hours in total.

Deal is done, now time to turn this thing into something more. I have a list of improvements as long as my arm but I am pretty confident I will hit at least 240hp (about 20 more than that for the torque), without a LSD (it is on my list of things but will need to get under the car and see if it can be done) not sure chassis can stay stable with much more. I think it will need sway bars shock changes and chassis bracing to deal with the power increases. I have always seen cars as blank canvasses ready to make something of.

Would appreciate some help with thoughts/comments on an Abarth with mods as shown below. It is not local to me, so I can't get into it for a drive very easily. My use would be as a limited mileage around town driver; no commuting or long trips. My concern is that it might be too radical and on the edge, especially for ride comfort (I do not want a coal cart), ride height, and exhaust loudness, but I have no way of gauging this and how these mods are changing stock ride characteristics. Power is adjustable to a max of 217 HP. I've been in a stock Abarth and found it quite acceptable. Some more power would be nice, but I wouldn't want to stiffen the ride up too much more from stock.

Thanks for the advice and comments, good or bad (like "Stay away!").

From seeing other Abarth builds on a FIAT forum, those mods shouldn't change the everyday ride to the extreme. My guess is that lowering the Abarth that much (and the Abarth is already lower than the regular 500s) would require some careful handling on potholes and speedbumps, so that might be worth asking the seller about.

Not sure what they are asking, but dealers have been blowing out the 2013 Abarths under $20,000, so that might be close in price too.

The 16" will help the ride but the springs will make the ride a little more harsh. I am surprised that there are no front or rear sway bar changes. That is one of the first things I noticed that the car needed. After 40 years of do mods to cars I would never by a car that I did not know who did the work and who did the driving.

FWIW my local dealer is now advertising $8K off of "every" '13 Abarth convertible. Their inventory shows 3 of them and one has no options so it would be $18,800...quite the car for that money!

For the heck of it I checked the inventory of another dealer in my state and they show 38 '13 Abarths in stock! I bet that's close to a year's supply. For comparison I checked Fiat of Mayor, err of Vegas :)D) which is the #1 dealer in the nation and they only show 10 '13 Abarths.

What are the major (if any) differences between a '13 Abarth and a '14 Abarth?

Looks like the advertised special allowance is $4000 of the '13 Abarth.....

    Tempting.. : )

    Nothing power-train related I believe.

There are new colors and wheel options plus the passenger seat gets lowered and an armrest is added.

Hopefully, the 2015 version will have more updates than this. A "Start" button for one; a 1/2 inch of lowering would also help the center of gravity and look; and a shortened shift length would also be great. Funny...aside from the start button, these are all very common after-market upgrades; FIAT should simply make the changes.

Only upgrade that I would like to see is built in NAV, 6 speed trans for the highway
and about 25-30 additional HP. A future X/19 variant would be pretty cool too, although I doubt we will see that any time soon.

+ 100 on the X/19 ;-) That would be very cool; especially an Abarth X/19.
