Formula Prius!
They sound fine. While the sound is different, just know an awful lot of fans ceased following F1 because of their new shreak-like sounds brought about by non turbo engines.
Very disappointed in the sound. Does anyone know the crank arrangement for these? They have a very odd sound, not unlike the Yamaha R1 with it's "cross-plane" crank. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DkzQQlRUV-0]2010 YZF-R1 on Dyno Yoshimura Exhaust - YouTube[/ame]
Yes a reasonable and fair outlook IMO, yet it's too soon to call it as yet. Most folk do not like change.
good one tundra, they wish, but to me these new turbo's were more like a ducati's wounded popcorn machine sound.
Don't ever insult Ducati like that again, it's just not right. I have one. It sounds monumentally better than this years F1 cars. Mark
They just need to install a dose pipe [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fq2ekzptguo]VL Calais Turbo Teaser - YouTube[/ame]
I watched both practice sessions and I tried to get into the new sound. I really, really did. Unfortunately, no matter what positive spin Will Buxton tries to put on it, it just sounds like a lot of buzzing, wheezing and popping to me. After it was over I went directly out to the garage and played my CD of the "Open Pipe Symphony" featuring the 3 liter V12 Ferrari divas. That was F1 to me, and I am so glad I got to be there to experience it live and in person.
Come on guys this is Formula 1. They've been given a set of rules and engineers have done what they can to get the most out of the engines. The new cars are on the edge of control and are a real handful for the drivers. Finally engines are being pushed to a point that we'll have engine failures in a race, something I remember people asking for last season. Maybe I'm extremely excited because I'm a Hamilton fan and he happens to be in a strong car. Mercedes isn't immune to engine failure either. Remember the Sensor fire in FP1? They've not even raced or qualified yet. Let's not write them off so early.
hello members,i am Italian and i love ferrari.I write to you for my passion and because i want learn english.Thank you.i says that the new sound is crap!
All we're talking about is the sound here. I'd never want sound artificially manipulated; I'd rather them sound terrible. I know the engineers are working with what they're given. That doesn't mean I have to like the result. Mark
I expected a sound like the '80s turbos, but on my TV, at least, this sound was more like.....farting? Well, I guess we'll have to live with it, and it probably sounds better in person. I wonder if the single exhaust has something to do with it.....
Even my wife noted that is sounded like the V-8 with a couple of dropped cylinders about to go "KAA-BLAA-AAMMMO". There is no longer a visceral hair raising sound that lets the observer know that there is definitely something different about this race car....that 'It ain't no Indycar or NASCAR'.
At least now I will be able to imitate the new F1 sounds like I did in 2nd grade. My F1 earplugs just became collector's items. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ffp9mb8duq8]Hand Fart Noises - Erik Griffin - YouTube[/ame]
The frustrating thing is, turbo race cars can sound awesome. The last generation of Indy-Offenhauser engines were only I-4's and they shrieked. I still remember that sound vividly from when I was a kid. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqsZJHlSkFA Cheers, George
I do not disagree, but there is so much to hate about the internet with social media BS I detest it, so I ignore it, however on the whole I embrace new tech and the way of things to come in the future. Besides it's better than nothing, all electric cars I may draw the line ...but who knows..
