10 of the most beautiful classic Italian cars - Slide Show - MarketWatch jim and i (well sort of ) made the top 10 !!!! congrats jim! i must say i do not agree with most of their other choices, but then again at least one of my cars made it in.
Brutal fail The Boxer was the only one I agreed with. And no Lamborghinis? Writer needs to stick to picking bad stocks.
Piss poor list. I agree with the 512BB (Still the most beautiful mid-rear V12 Ferrari, IMO) and the Bora, and that's about it. The original LP400 Countach should have been in there, as well as, perhaps, a 275 or another front V12 Ferrari. And, if you wan to get FIAT in there, how could you not choose the 124 or X1/9? Jim's car was a great opener, though. Cheers, Geo
No Alfa Tipo 33 Stradale? IMO the single most beautiful car ever built. Agreed, the list is a brutal fail.
512 and Masser...Absolutely. The rest??? Sober when he picked those two but deep into his cups when the rest were chosen.
It is like the guy went to one car show and had to choose from the limited selection at that show.... "Even though there were dozens of priceless vintage Italian sports cars at this year’s Lime Rock Sunday in the Park Concours, ..."
Crazy list. I would put a 124 spider in for sure, a 50's Giuletta. I guess the article is just about cars they saw at greenwich. Nice to see the boxer getting some airtime.
None of the cars listed are "ugly," but many are quite plain. Would also say that none were presented/photographed to best show off their positive features. No offense to Napolis, but I would label his car among the "plain." It is without doubt a hugely important and awesome car, but its stylistically not much any different from any other car of the period (or later) that is basically a tube, squashed in places, with a few vents tossed in, having tires sticking out the sides that are covered in cycle fenders. Would I love to own and/or drive it? Oh HELL yeah! Do I think it is "pretty?" No, not a bit.
If you go to autoweek article its title include the adjective memorable and not the adjective beautiful. I think that the WSJ is full of it. When you read autoweek every car has a small paragraph stating why the chosen cars are memorable for 2013. Not the most beautiful of all time but the most memorable italian cars they saw in 2013....big difference!
Actually I thought this list rather bizarre until I realised (I think) they were talking about the best preserved examples they've WITNESSED recently. The commentary seemed to be more about the individual cars than as types.
I actually like everything on that list but 10 ten.... ? no. Leaving out the Miura shows very little credibility in the choices.
+1! Now if they would have picked the P3/4 they would be dead on. IMO one of THE best looking car ever.
