Copart auctions decide which vendor parts the car out.

    ?

    the two obvious alternatives -

    1. insurance co spends the money to store inside to preserve their investment until auction

    2. skip the auction process and have a ongoing contract with a "vendor" to part out their wrecks on a shared value basis

the question is why leave these out in the rain and snow while hoping to recoup some value ?, it is not like there are so many to deal with.

At $174k, hope they can restore this beast (pictured a few posts above). Bids came in from Oregon, Ca and Fl. Prelim bid was $140k.

Thanks for the info. On gut feeling alone that strikes me as high but that said I have no idea what the MSRP was or any idea what costs of repair are. Hope it doesn't get parted out.

FWIW, they've updated the listing with some non-snow bird pics.

IIRC an FChatter had a very similar spec and sold/traded the car not too long after getting it.

White one really doesn't look bad at all. Probably an easy fix and flip for someone.

This car sold for $142,000. I bid on it and jumped out the frenzy at $108,000. As a salvaged car this car's market value is reduced 30% if you can find a buyer. At auction the buyer is taking a risk on the unknown condition of the car (frame, under carriage, and engine not starting up). The reasonable clean title value of the car is about $250,000. The known repairs should be around $40,000. So the market value should be south of $135,000 on auction with no profit. What do you think?

One of the poster's mentioned that Ferrari might not sell parts for cars, that by the vin they know are wrecked/totaled, and also mentioned Ferrari buying up current models, that are wrecked? Can anyone ad any additional information regarding those 2 items? Thanks!

    Copart

It has a lot more damage than the usual "water/flood" victim; I wonder if it crashed into the water...

I'm just now seeing this post. I don't suppose you, or anyone else, downloaded this .pdf for future use? I would really love to see it.

Damn. I just saw this car, 23 June 2013, in a secret underground garage on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. It most definitely was not in this shape when I saw it. How unfortunate.
