economy, ratings, budget, etc etc...I can't believe they stayed with Indycar/Andretti past Danica. must have had a contract with the team, not just Danica.

Does it really matter? At the current rate of decline and sponsors leaving the series, it simply is a matter of time before it quietly ends. Based on the marketplace relevance of Indy Car.....I don't expect it to make it more than a few more years. I certainly won't miss another "spec" racing series.

I'm not quite sure if doing it in May is best but in general I like the idea of adding the road course.

I suspect "cost containment" came in to play with scheduling it in May...save a buck to make a buck.

    meh, been there done that.

it's just a silly idea that waters down the 500 even more.

if they want a big crowd at the Speedway during the month of May, bring back 40 proper entries, bump day that means something, and the ghost of Tom Carnegie announcing a new track record.

The thought process at IMS makes no sense.

Instead of having the Indy Car teams at the track for the entire month of May to
include the road course event, why not spread it out to Labor Day weekend to bookend
the summer and put it on a twin bill with USCR?

They have the USCR event scheduled on the same weekend as the NASCAR race once
again which makes absolutely no sense as there is literally no one there to watch the
sports car races, raising the question "If IMS hosted a sports car race and no one was
there to see it, does it make a noise?".

To Indy Car's credit, they're trying things like twin races at certain venues but now they're
taking their most traditional event and creating confusion among those whom may not
be racing aficionados and media alike.

It's as if the Hulman family can only control what is within the walls of IMS so they're
trying this in order to keep what is already theirs safe at the risk of watering down their
    signature event.

Traditions die hard but IMS seems hell-bent on suicide.

How about a rule book like we had in the 70's-90's?? I think we can get more than forty cars if that happens. And with that, the rest will follow.

They ran twin races when CART was just starting. One thing......they were ovals and in today's racing environment......we can't have that. We have to have street races and road races no one goes to or watches on TV.

are the walls at NASCAR really fake wood paneling?

you know, he has a point. innovate or die. so here's some non-idiotic suggestions:
    -open rules
    -new track records
    -more than 33 entrants
    -qualifying races
-drivers with personality (actually that's not the problem, fans just don't *know* they have personality)
    -cars that aren't hideously ugly
    -cars that make nice sounds

all of those are better than a half-assed race on an awful infield road course.
