They look great don't they. Also given GTO capabilities it is possible to not use any donor car so should keep people happy and seems like a sensible solution. Will wait to see better pics but they do look accurate. Be interested to hear what others think.

Supposed to cost close to £400,000 but they are lovely. Would be very tempted by one of these.

Is it my eyes or are the the windscreens a little too low and the nose grilles too rounded on the L+R sides of these cars, or is that how some of the early SWBs were?

GTO tell me that one of the cars has been sold to the owner of a real SWB who is going to use it on the track exclusively. I doubt that he would have bought one if the windscreen and grill were off - more likely it is a funny angle on the photograph. Given the number of real SWBs (and the odd GTO from the looks of their website) that they work on, I would be more than a little surprised if they made these mistakes as it wouldn't have been hard to have a real car side by side throughout the construction process. FYI they have replicated a 1960 Comp car which does look quite different to the later cars - more voluptuous.

Here is a few more pics.

Are GTO Engineering perhaps able to make complete engines too with new parts?

I would actually welcome that if it helped stem the tide of GTE/330GT butchery. The copyright cowboys at Ferrari SpA may think differently . . . .

It's what I have Been preaching for years. Acceptance of tool room copies will save the "real" old cars for posterity. The lesser cars avoid the meat grinder and the period racing cars don't get ground up. Here we see the owner of a period swb is using his new swb for racing.

As long as the cars are authentic recreations not destrying older cars we should encourage this. Accepting these cars into historic events saves older cars and allows fans and drivers to experience these machines driven in full race anger.

If we exclude copies made by cutting period cars the circle is complete.

We also expand the whole experience and hobby.

It's all a function of acceptable standards and rules.

My understanding is that they build everything from scratch as they have an amazing engineering workshop. Why is it so hard to believe that you can make a perfect copy? RS Panels and Heitbrink make bodies for real cars so why not for a replica? I understand that if you are working from pictures it would be hard but when you have an original side by side for months it wouldn't be that hard.

Agree that copies if this type save the old cars and mean no more chop jobs. A real basket case might not make it but this will prevent good cars from disappearing.

Now the real question is if these are indistinguishable except for serial number who wants one? I know I do.

I'm trying to like them, but I cant help hating recreations. But I must say, they look very accurate.

I have some info on this that may help:
    1) I love GTO Engineering great firm.
    2) The windscreen scan data was supplied and integrated into the CAD model that was derived from the original 3D scan data of a GT SWB. Therefore if the windscreen is correct there is no reason to suppose the shape is wrong.
    3) The bodies were going to be made by a firm called CPP and they might well have created these cars. CPP went into liquidation during the duration of the project. GTO Engineering as far as I am aware have absolutely no financial connection to CPP.
    4) The nose should be good as the shape was derived from a 3D scan of an original car. However, these cars being handmade are pretty variable so liable to variation.

Wish GTO Engineering every success with this car and can vouch for the data behind these bodies being solid.

I don't think so. GTO Enginnering's car has been recreated after #2129GT's scan (Winner Tour de France 1960).

So 2129GT has also a wrong rebuild nose. I don't know why GTO Engineering copied his model after a wrong rebuild car with bad grill shape... They have dozen of 250 SWB available in their workshop...

2129GT's nose and grille has been as it is since 1962.

Here pictured at the 1962 Tour de Corse.

I understand but I don't know why they recreate a really good car scanning a bad rebuild car with wrong grille shape. They are Ferrari specialist since over 20 years, I think they know this....
