Hope not a repost: http://jalopnik.com/5915005/this-35-million-ferrari-is-the-most-expensive-car-ever
Ok interesting question being raised in the comments in the Jalopnik article bout this sale. What's the highest valued car of all time no matter if for sell or not? Count Trossi? Laurens Black Type 57 Atlantic? The blue Atlantic that sold year before last? Was wondering what others thought?
But the story is not just about one car : A Ferrari 250 GTO bought by U.K. television and radio host Chris Evans for about $18 million in 2010 has been sold for a million-dollar price “in the high 20s,” dealers said. “I’ve heard of eight Ferraris selling for a total of $135 million during the last eight weeks,” John Collins of the Ascot-based dealership Talacrest Ltd. said in an interview. Collins was directly involved in five of these high-end sales. And the Jon Hunt car not long ago
Jim has mentioned something about being offered a ridiculous amount for P 4/5.. at least on par with what this GTO sold for, if not more. I think the Silver Ghost is just a branding/PR tool for RR, and is worth more in that capacity than it is crossing an auction block (which will probably never, ever happen).
The Doctor asked, "What's the highest valued car of all time no matter if for sell or not? I think that a few Bugatti Type 41's (Royale) sold in the eighties for BIG money, something like $15. Remember there are only six, and one chassis.
The Esders Royale has been recreated at the Schlumpf Museum in France. That maybe what's being referred to.
My view would be either AX201, or "722"...the Moss winning, Mille Miglia Mercedes Benz 300SLR... http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=164798&highlight=5095GT&page=2 Not to mention what the contents of the Musee De L' Automobile have appreciated to since their seizure..... I remember going to visit the Briggs Cunningham museum and talking with John Burgess. John spent an hour or so showing me the Royale (41.1411) and a Bugatti rolling chassis. I assume that someone knows better than I do about this chassis and what happened toooo it when the collection was sold?
We showed the Green GTO at Pebble Beach last year and had a lot of fun. Eric Herrema is a great guy with some amazing cars. You will see him at Pebble Beach in 2013 with another. Enjoy the pics.
