Decided to pull a pack out of the freezer for breakfast this morning. Tried things a bit different, and I think it came out the best of any I have made so far. Fried up the Taylor ham and held it in the pan while I toasted the roll in the pan juices. Fried two eggs and left them just over easy this time. A little touch of mayo on the bottom roll, a piece of ham, slice of cheese, one egg a slice of cheese and another piece of ham. Topped it off with the top bun pretty well soaked in Frank's red hot sauce. For me it was better with a bit less. Only two slices of ham and one egg. Man I tell you, toasting the roll in the pan like that is one of the keys!! Very tasty!

Pork roll reminds me of my nana. When I was a kid, she used to make us pork roll, egg, and cheese sandwiches. I know it's typically an up north thing, so most people from FL don't know about it...But I DO!!!
I'm graduating from college tomorrow and going to my mom's house before the ceremony. I think I'm going to ask her to make pork roll, egg, & cheese sandwiches for breakfast to incorporate nana in the day.
Congratulations and that sounds like an appropriate celebration breakfast. I just called the distributor www.jerseyporkroll.com and the rep told me that HEB discontinued it and it has also been discontinued in Florida aswell. Looks like it will be a mail order for me eventually.
This could mean two things and the first would be stock on hand or Publix is now mail ordering and not a regular outlet for the roll.
My folks are bringing a re-supply of PR from NJ next month so I felt (relatively) comfortable tapping into the last 3lb log in our stores. Thick cut pork roll, muenster cheese, lightly toasted fresh English muffin, over-easy egg, no sauce needed. Served with a side of tots, bonus pork roll and a loaded bloody mary, IMO the only way to kick off a perfect Sunday of yardwork, golf and F1. That used to be my go-to Sunday hangover breakfast! Usually used tater tots and regular old chopped onion but a PR "skillet" is a wonderful thing.
Stop it! You're killing me........ some T ham I cannot even get here in SE Michigan and now you are talkin and postin Tater Tots?
I just bought a 1lb here and had it fried on a asiago cheese bagel... to say it was good is an understatement. Worse part now is my daughter likes it and I have to share ;-)
I think I ate the last of mine awhile back. Will have to scour the freezer to see if there is another package hiding in a corner.

There used to be Taylor Pork Roll stores on the Atlatic City and Wildwood boardwalks. When I worked at the shore during college we'd drive to wildwood after work just to get a pork roll sand which grilled over open flame. Image Unavailable, Please Login
grandparents took me years ago to the one in wildwood, sat at the counter and had a sandwich with my Grandfather who was a great guy... mmmm those were the days. to make those store all over again just like in the picture would make a mint... Treasure Island has it infrequently.
