I saw it "run" throught the auction, and the key word is run (barely ran). It was one of the poorest examples I have seen. It all depends on the new owners standard, everyone has a different standard of what a dino or ferrari should be.
I just checked the website and it listed it as "SOLD" - which is a little different from pulling it off the market. Now I wonder even more about who is in cahoots on this mess.

That is a different Dino that they show as sold. They sold it about 1 month ago. The guys at DriverSource are legit guys. I doubt that they would knowingly play some shuffling the serial number game. They have spent the last couple of years working to build a great reputation here in the Houston area as a dealer that has nice classic and high end cars. I doubt they would throw that area over this Dino. Interestingly, they tend to do extremely well in the Dino sales department. They have sold 4 or 5 so far this year.
On the Anamera site it shows it as 0468 as being sold. I wish the auction company and dealer would have posted and discussed the car here. It would have earned them a lot of credibility and integrity. As it is it seems the Dino has "dissapeared"! Has anyone who contacted them received any responses? Freeman
Freeman. The sales manager told me they were looking into it. I asked him to get back to me when he learned anything, don't know if he will. I sent him a list of places to look for the serial # of the car, and pointed him to this thread. Don't know if I'll ever hear back from him, I could ping him one more time see what's up, he might respond. D
I am here in Houston and will swing by and ask what is the status. I suspect they will not get involved in any game with the car. Will keep you guys updated.
Freeman, Was tied up with work and didn't make it by there this week. Will hopefully get by there early next week.
Found something very bad in Italy... Annother Dino 246 in restauration currently without ANY Chassis no!? What good reason would the owner have to cut the section out? http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/828/imola001.jpg/
Hummm..... doesn't look good. maybe its one of those restorations where they get a buyer early on and ask him: What color? Flares/chairs? Interior color? A/C? Any particular SN you would like?
Shawn - Here's what showed up on the link (to DriverSource) for 00468 when I posted that it was listed as SOLD, not WITHDRAWN on Anamera, and which Freeman subsequently confirmed. Dave - Did Mecum ever get back to you?
On the Dino with the out cut VIN No. (my previous post) I was able to find one single piece they forgot to remove with the Scgaglietti build No.. If the car will be back on the street I will know if it fits... It´s a pitty that we don´t know it from #00468.
Let's give it a bit to settle out before making the correct number known in a public forum. This car is an early E Series Dino. It is not a serial number mentioned anywhere I know of and is a solid, complete car, not one pieced together from multiple cars.
Shawn. Honestly? GEEZUS H. FERRARI, we're not talking about the combination to the "football" that can be used to detonate nuclear weapons. I am sometimes amazed at the little games you play here. Dave
Kinda hard to say. I don't know how that is going to all play out. It seems to have been done some time ago. I don't know if it was for tax purposes or something else. The proper number is not one that hits any sinister flags, so I can't say. This car was auctioned at the Leake auction in Tulsa, OK in June 2011. Does anyone know how it came to be there, either ownership wise or history of consignment?
It isn't my place to post or my fight to be in. Let's see how this unfolds, which I hope will do so quickly. All I know is that if I bought a car with what turns out to be a VERY questionable title and VIN issue that wasn't disclosed, I wouldn't be a happy camper
