thank you, will do. I have a modded Epiphone Black beauty Les Paul and a Blackface 1964 Fender tube amp to sell off, so a trip to the music stores will be a good idea.
I think I have found my next guitar. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ESP-Guitar-KH-20-Metallica-Kirk-Hammett-100-NEW-/120697026008?pt=Guitar&hash=item1c1a1a75d8
GOOD man! Be sure to post pics! Lol, I reckon. I *was* going to bid/buy that KH20. I lost track of time/Ebay and missed it. But..........luckily he has re-listed it and for a few $K less too. But..................I am buying another investment property at I may need any extra dollars to put towards the house. And.......................................Id rather buy this old school KH "Zorlac" guitar first. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270730287252&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT But I will see what happens. I might be able to get a mint condition Zorlac for similar money.
Another new guitar off Ebay. This is an original 1989 ESP Kirk Hammett guitar. Often referred to as the "Zorlac" guitar because of a sticker Kirk put on his when he got the guitar from ESP. This has the Jackson guitar inspired headstock which ESP had to stop making because Jackson guitars threatend to sue them. This also has the skull and crossbones facing down the fretboard. They made these through to 1991 before Jackson threatened to sue them. So they changed the headstock to their own and made the skull and crossbones face outwards at the same time. It is a neck-thru body guitar and I must say, it sounds fantastic. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here is the 2nd and current version of the Kirk Hammett ESP guitar. They started making this configuration in 1992. I bought mine in 2001. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here are some I have recently made. The Blue Tele is for myself and the Bigsby style guitar is for my EX GF Laura Pleasents that plays in the Death Metal band Kylesa. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Cheers mate, it's a gem to play. Sounds just as good as my other ESP neck-thru. They sound so much sweeter than the bolt on neck ESP's I have. Both look great Steve!! Can you tell me what the inlay is on the red axe? I cant make it out. I think I see a bird/dove on the right, cant make out the bigger part of it. Also, odd style guitar for a Death Metal band?
PAP The inlay is a humming bird and morning glory flowers. I have built a bunch of these for Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top. It is hollow filled with balsa wood. Rosewood fingerboard, Neck through design with Mahogany neck Curly maple top and Mahogany sides. Laura is not you average Death Metal guitar player. Steve, great guitars! Reminds me of some of the guitars i've seen in Mark Erlewine's shop. Would like to see more. Reminds me... Still haven't taken pics of my last acquired zebrawood guitar.
Thanks mate, looks cool. That guitar is RIGHT up Billy Gibbons alley. And Laura can show me how to solo anytime. Pics please.
Those are cool, here are a few more first one, Greg our bass player with an Ampeg Fretless very cool, have not seen many of them. The next Greg a few years later with a clear dan armstrong. I think he had a black one and a smoke color one they made a few weird ones.... Rob Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Pap... this one's for you! http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/Explorer/Gibson-USA/Dethklok-Thunderhorse-Explorer/Features.aspx
Lol, wow! I remember the Gibson Gothic guitars, they were pretty cool. A mate bought a Gothic Explorer, very nice. I dont mind the explorer shape (Thanks James Hetfield), but I dont like the Gibson Explorer's pick guard. When I finsih buying the last Kirk Hammet ESP guitars, I *may* try to collect the Hetfield ESP guitars. Mainly love his black checker plate Explorer and the original ESP MX220 Explorer. The 'lawsuit' model.
Those smoke amber Dan Armstrongs are very rare. They made 9 of them. I used to have a clear Dan Armstrong with all three of the pickups.
Gibson famously filed suit against ESP (and others) for knocking-off their guitars. As a result, ESP changed the design of their Explorer copy. There are now "pre-lawsuit" and "post-lawsuit" models.
