I saw the movie with my children at an Audi sponsored private screening last night. It was a great movie and the R8 Cab looks and sounds wonderful. It makes you wonder how to justify spending so much more on an Italian drop drop exotic when you can have a German one for so much less...

New V10 R8 cab featured in Automobile magazine this month (two-page writeup).

Much better looking than the Gallardo, IMHO. $172K.

I prefer the coupe. That ront doesnt work with a dropped top rear.

I like them both, but I'm partial to the Cab. And, what's a ront?

I agree. And. with German reliability and many more Audi dealers out there, much easier to own too...

That's funny, I prefer the spyder because I don't care for the sideblade.

Will be interesting to see how Audi does with the R8 and its seemingly ever growing family.

Is the cab available in V8 or just V10?

"Is the cab available in V8 or just V10?"

Rumors of a V8 coming, someone else here may know for sure, but first cars are all V10.

Too many variations of this car for the market, I think.

edit : I predict a big fizzle, very hard to sell cars in this market. I think the spyder will do all right, but the GT won't.

Big question is whether Audi as a marque can sustain demand at this price level. The base R8 is significantly beyond the base Porsche 997, and the R8 V10 cab is new territory.

But, to the original post, I wouldn't pay MSRP for a new Gallardo when you can get the R8 V10. It's a combination of Lamborghini no longer being all that exotic and Audi producing the more impressive car.

Per Automobile magazine, the V8 cab is coming later, btw. Should drop the entry price quite a bit.
