Ok, I need some help: I always thought that 1992 and 1993 were Dallaras. But maybe Dallara only made the cars and the team was Scuderial Italia? Anyway, I found this and that doesn't really fit together with Tillman's data: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dallara Did they just forget the 1993 Scudria Italia efforts? I took these pictures at the 1993 Canadian GP and I believe this to be the Scuderia Italia Dallara Tillman is referencing above. Comments please? The 93 cars were Lola powered by Ferrari, with Luca Badoer (!) getting their highest finish in San Marino of 7th. They didn't make it to the end of the season. ref: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scuderia_Italia#Dallara_era http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lola_Cars#Scuderia_Italia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1993_San_Marino_Grand_Prix I didn't realize that they shifted.
Ah, ok, I get it now. Thanks! The Wiki article talked about Dallara and hence didn't mention the 93 Scuderia Italia cars because they were Lolas by then. Makes all sense now. Didn't realize that was Alboreto and BADoer in those cars. Funny.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lola_T93/30 confirms the car you posted has the correct Scuderia Italia livery. http://www.grandprixgames.org/read.php?4,793956,793971
If I had a grid filled with all my favourite F1 cars, it would be comprised primarily of one-race-specials and almost-qualifieds. 2010 will likely furnish a few new ones..
I looked into that and learned that they were indeed using Ferrari engines for three years in the early fifties. However: They didn't enter those car into GP racing, but Formula Libre races. By the time they joined F1 in 1954 they no longer used Ferrari engines. So they don't count. But thanks for the hint anyway. I looked into this as well and you're absolutely right: This car qualifies! Thanks much. I even found a company that sells a 1/43 scale model.
I have nothing of substance to add to this thread except to say that is an AMAZING collection Andreas...it's a cool way for a relative F1 noob like me to see the evolution of Ferrari and customer cars over the years. Love it...thanks!
Thanks, I appreciate the kind words. I'm trying hard to wrap this up and am currently building the missing pieces. Here a quick preview. Can you name the cars? Image Unavailable, Please Login
The 86 F1, which was so unsuccessful, it makes last year's car look like a WCC winner. The other body is my 93 Lola-Ferrari "kitbash".
Thanks to a harsh winter I managed to complete my 1/43 scale F1 car collection. But instead of further hijacking this thread, I thought it was about time to focus on the customer cars. So here are my pictures of all the customer cars, either models or the real deal when I had a chance to see it: Let's start with the - 56 Bardahl Special - 60 Cooper - 64 Cooper Image Unavailable, Please Login
Next up are the - 91 Minardi - 92 Scuderia Italia Dallara - 93 Scuderia Italia Lola Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here are the Saubers of - 97 Herbert at Interlagos - 98 Alesi at Monza - 99 - 00 Salo at Indy Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
These are - 2001 Raikkoenen in the Sauber at Indy - 2001 Enge in the Prost at Indy (not sure the engine was a Ferrari in that particular race) - 2002 Heidfeld in the Sauber at Indy - 2003 Heidfeld in the Sauber at Imola - 2004 Massa in the Sauber at Barcelona - 2005 Villeneuve in the Sauber at Montreal Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
And finally: - 2006 DC in the Red Bull at Indy - 2007 Vettel in the Toro Rosso in Budapest - 2007 Yamamoto in the Spyker in Budapest - 2008 Bourdais in the Toro Rosso in Montreal - 2008 Fisichella in the Force India in Montreal - 2009 Buemi in the Toro Rosso in Valencia Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The green car is from the 1966 season (Cooper Ferrari, driven by C. Lawrence), albeit with a chassis from '64 mated to a Testarossa engine. Nice job on the repaint, by the way.
Thanks. Did you see the 93 Scuderia Italia car I kitbashed? The first version I did with pinstriping and it came out too crude simply because of the scale involved (and some clumsy fingers). So I had to up my game and bought a color laser printer. Armed with Visio I made my own decals (first time!) and it worked out nicely. Meanwhile I made some more decals for other models and can't figure out how I lived so long without it. I'm also proud of the Bardahl Special: Isobel's post got me searching the internet and I found an obscure little company that specializes in hard to find kits and they had one left. Unbelievable!
One last model ? Wow, Andreas. What a collection! I came across a glorious photo of the Bardahl Special with an accompanying story while I was attempting to find a new entry for 'Guess the Car'. I thought the car had a fascinating history and although I didn't use the car (and subsequently lost the website I found it on..), when I saw this thread, I knew you'd have an immediate interest. I'm very pleased you managed to track down a model of it, there can't be many of them floating around....
I'm slightly exaggerating. They still have a few more, but it is officially out of production. While googling for the model I learned that the real car is on display in a small car museum on the East Coast. I'd love to see it in the metal. So if anybody knows where that museum is...

The article about the Bardahl Ferrari in R&T, May 1981, suggests that at that time the car was in Luigi Chinetti's garage in Greenwich, Connecticut. This racer had a 6-cylinder engine from the 121LM, and a Kurtis-Kraft 500D chassis, number 387-55. Don't know where it is now.
