I wear my Porsche hat when driving my Ferrari and my Ferrari hat when driving my Porsche.. Now I'm waiting for my stickers(My other car is a Ferrari and My other car is a Porsche)..
Ferrari clothing is for the wearer to indulge in his passion, but observers tend to think that he is showing off.
I wear a Ferrari shirt and sometimes a Ferrari hat, probably 75% of the time I drive the Ferrari. I don't see the problem with it. I love to show off... BT
No. I will wear a Ferrari hat or jacket while driving something else though, or mowing the lawn. I would wear a Lambo or Vette item or race track tee shirt while driving a Ferrari, just DON'T DRESS LIKE YOUR CAR!
I do not believe that I have ever heard of a Porsche or Corvette owner who had any compunctions about wearing most any kind of logo gear for their cars. Is this just a Ferrari culture thing?
Who cares? it's your car, it's your shirt, it's your hat, it's your life and it's America, do what you want !!!!!!!!!
+1. It's fine to wear Ferrari stuff, just not when driving the Ferrari. I always laugh when I see a Ferrari/porsche or whatever outside a restaurant, walk in, and see some toolbox dressed like Michael Shumacher sitting at the table aside of me. I picture a big 'chatbubble' coming out of his head saying, in case you were wondering, the Ferrari outside is mine and I am a huge tool.
My son usually does, does it count? <this is his best "avoiding the paparazzi" shot> Image Unavailable, Please Login
Well it depends....running to the FoodLand for more Beck's....not so much... But when you go to a meet or to a Public Event as the World's Fastest Ferrari Art Car..........well on those days I AM Schumacher, to hundreds of school kids........I could sign HIS name if I wanted to...they don't care......
Problem is Ferrari has a lot of baggage as a brand name. Perception is if you're wearing the clothes without the car, you're either a pathetic dreamer or a snob, and if you're in the car with the clothes you're just full of yourself and a self-affirmation junkie. I just keep it subtle. I think the best add-on for any Ferrari is an owner with a lot of knowledge, passion and humility. The car really speaks for itself.
Just one time when driving to our NE Florida meet up back in March. Other than that i'd almost consider it sacrilege. A non-descript blue ferrari had or a t-shirt with only the prancing horse or Ferrari on the sleeve may be less sacrilegious. Wore a schumacher-esque T-shirt 'round the Atlanta car show last week and the guy at the Ferrari booth stood up from his chair to meet me along with several representatives from other marques as i walked by the booths. I'll never do that again. In Miami or L.A. that garb would just look normal but in conservative and non-F1 Atlanta it draws attention.
I'll sometimes wear a Ferrari polo shirt, t-shirt, or hat to a car-related event. The fact that some people here are so concerned with what other people wear worries me more than any logo-plastered Ferrari fan. I suspect that some of the worry-warts may be overly festooned with gold chains and/or hair gel, creating a spectacle of their own to which they are oblivious.
I wear my Ferrari stuff when driving my Maserati or Mercedes and the Maserati stuff when driving my Mercedes or Ferrari and the the Mercedes stuff when driving the Maserati or the Ferrari. I must confess I've got it screwed up a few times now and then.
Affirmative on that. I do not even have any gear - well, I think I got a couple of T shirts at the last Boardwalk rally. I view it personally kind of like sticking the shields on your front fenders. And you have hit it on the head as to why this has a negative context for most owners - Ferrari IS special, enough so that you don't need to shout about it. But then, I would not presume to have a vanity license plate on any of my cars, either.
Hey, we all wear uniforms of one kind or another don't we. Whether it be a suit and tie, a military uniform, a shiny silk shirt to go with your gold chains, Rolex and sunglasses, a Ford, Chevy or John Deer baseball hat, 80 thousand Pittsburgh Steeler or Oakland Raider fans wearing a sweatshirt on any given Sunday, a Boston Red Sox or Ferrari cap. How about calling the Hells Angels ******* for wearing their colors when they ride, I think not. Even your plain polo or T shirt and Levis or that tweed cap or jacket qualifies you for making a statement. It's all about perceptions, identity and belonging and at the same time saying Hey, I'm special too as an individual. So before you go judging others, look in the mirror and see what YOU are, and maybe, just maybe be a little less judgmental of your fellow man and see what others think of you. There's a time and place for everything and it's your personal choice and freedom to be or project to be whatever you wish for the hour, day, week or eternity.........just be you and screw the nay sayers.
bushwacker very elegantly said what I was trying to convey... If you represent Ferrari, look the part...otherwise just be yourself...many would say my normal garb looks exactly like Magnum, PI...but I was born in Galveston long before that show OR Miami Vice....... I guess my life is a combo of the two...LOL!
I ain't scared! Hell, I even put out a Ferrari flag on F1 race days! However, I didn't wear any Ferrari clothing until after I actually purchased my first Ferrari, didn't wanna look like a poser. Usually I will wear a Ferrari hat and someone always asks flippantly, "Do you own a Ferrari?" and its always priceless to say, "Yes." and its parked right over there. Usually end up showing them the car, if they wanna see it. Never worried about what I wear, I make it all look good, LOL!!!!!!!!!!! Robert
Added shields to my car this year just cuz i like the yellow against the red. Dumped a rolex cuz it just seemed to attract guys that wanted to talk about it like we're in some kinda club. I don't think the sheilds attract more or less attention just looks nice IMO . I don't look down others who wear Ferrari clothes while driving their Fcar it's just not for me.
