I put a kevlar disk in my 308 when I rebuilt the engine. The reason I did it is that I was adding quite a bit of power and I tend to be rough on clutches anyway. I also add 20% to the pressure plate at the same time, so I cant really comment on pedal pressure, but I dont see why it would change if you just change the disk?? The kevlar disk is definitely a little grabby. Its not hard to make smooth starts, but its not as nice as the stock material for that. IMO, if you are not hard on youre car, youll be happier with the stock material. I see Nick at Forza has a twin disk kit. Id like to try that the next time it comes apart to get the smooth light pedal pressure back and still handle the 300 ft-lbs torque my engine puts out.

Providing it does everything it is supposed to do then I see no disadvantages other than a slight cost increase. Some of the Kevlar brake pads that one of my competitors uses cause severe squeeling which is why I do not use Kevlar brake pads on any customer cars.

So, Given these facts would you say that it is probably better to use the Kevlar lining for durability since there is no great difference in the feel of the clutch for street use?

I have a Kevlar clutch on a Cobra race car, and for that application I like it. The takeup is very sudden, but once your accustomed to it, it feels fine. I've never heard a squeal, but the car is awfully loud. Also, supposed to live longer in high HP severe service.

I have one in my Corvair and can tell no real difference. The feel is about the same. No two clutches ever feel exactly the same however.

It will take more torque (and jackrabbit starts)than the standard linings. They will squeal on engagement and take-up is very sudden. Harder pedal feel. If you have an uprated engine or drive aggressively, it's the way to go. Mine is an AP Racing ceramettalic unit. It's also lighter and stronger.

Those of you who have had Kevlar clutch lining used in your Ferrari, give us a idea of whether or not you like it better then the orig. clutch lining.
