My cousin used oxi clean with a bissel steam cleaner to clean his interior. The carpet steam cleaner had an uphostery attachment and it took out all the years of dirt and grime. So it does work. |

Only the obvious: Make sure everything gets good and dry. My experience on the shelf liner is that the grime over the years becomes deeply embedded in the weave fabric, and you really need something (i.e. terry cloth towel, etc.) to blot the grime up out of the material. Before I resorted to any steaming, I would first try to surface clean with something like the oxi-clean that will not leave a residue. Just my $.02.

Is there any concerns about steam cleaning the carpets and rear shelf? I'm working on refreshing the interior and any tips or warnings are appreciated. |

I'll have to try that. I've used Woolite Foaming Spray Upholstery Shampoo/Cleaner, which also does the job, but is a bit awkward. |

I tried I bet a dozen different cleaning agents to clean the rear shelf liner on my 308 GTSi with no luck. The 22-year old liner was the real eyesore on the whole car. I even contemplated changing out the liner for new. But then I tried the Oxi-Clean, straight from Wal-Mart. Boy does the stuff work! Here is my recommendation on how to use: 1. Get A BUNCH of white terry cloth shop towels. You will need 10 or so to do the job right. 2. Mix about1/3 a scoop of the oxi-clean with HOT water, and put inside a 16 ounce spray bottle. Shake it real good. 3. Thoroughly spray on one section of the shelf liner, then let it sit there for 30 minutes. 4. After 30 minutes, start GENTLY wiping on the shelf liner with a dry terry cloth towel. You will be shocked at what the towel picks up. 5. Keep turning the towel continuously to a clean portion - otherwise all you will be doing is rubbing the grime around back into the liner. 6. You will have to repeat steps 3-5 3 times to really see a difference, but what a difference it is! If you have any questions, feel free to conact me. |
